People, myself included, love a good spectacle. We want to be entertained. The Belgian alt-rock duo of Lovelorn Dolls does tell a great story with”Deadtime Stories” which will be released at the end of this week.

The band’s fourth album is perfect for fans of Tim Burtonesque Gothic rock and metal bands like Stolen Babies or Lacuna Coil. There’s a theatrical element to their music that I love, which is why it is the Album of the Week.
The recently released music video for “Diary of Nothing” depicts the tumultuous sibling relationship between Wednesday and her brother Pugsley, whom she loves to mistreat. She’s so mean. I almost cannot watch. Almost.
Lovelorn Dolls is Kristell Lowagie (lyrics, vocals) and Bernard Daubresse (programming, guitars, synth). They’ve been working together for 15 years. So they know what it is like to love someone and be really irritated by them in the same moment.
“We had a lot of fun creating this video for one of our favorite songs on the album. This song alone sums up the “Lovelorn Dolls” spirit for me,” says Kristell Lowagie.
“Death & Glory” featuring Witchboy is my absolute favorite track on the album. I also love
“Another Night on Earth” and “Beautiful Chaos.” The tracks will definitely be added to a new playlist. I don’t have one for spooky Gothic music yet, but by the end of the week, there will be a playlist for this album.
If I could listen to this album anywhere, I would choose a Gotchic circus type of place. Apparently, there is a really cool bar called Black Rabbit Rose in Los Angeles. Lovelorn Dolls should visit, either for fun or to play live.
Out May 24, the ‘Deadtime Stories’ album will be available from digital platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. It can also be ordered via the label or directly from the artist via Bandcamp.
