The Pull of Autumn: Press Play

The Pull of Autumn has released a cover of The Orchid’s “I Was Just Dreaming.” The Boston/Rhode Island collective has done justice to the original. The video is beautiful. There is something captivating about the young lady who looks stunning while contemplating her past and future life choices. If only we could all look just as camera-ready while making decisions.

I would like to give a shoutout to whoever paired the white suit and black nails. The combination speaks volumes without saying anything. It’s striking and impressive.

Recently, I watched an episode of “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,” which was also very bewitching. Everyone was pacing around in beautiful apartments while smoking under their chandeliers.

The point is that I get a similar feeling from this Song. There is a sense of beauty mixed with a tinge of sadness. I wonder if the couple in the song will wake up from the dream and walk into the sunset together or apart?

I was just dreaming when I said
“We could be lovers instead.”
And you know she never fled

“‘I Was Just Dreaming’ perfectly captures the moment of a dying crush, where you’re still all in enough to have your hopes, but are planning an exit – maybe one with a bit of a flourish. This song is brilliant. I just did the best I could with it, stripped what I had down to a couple of tracks, and sent it to Dan. He knows just what to do – here I like his choppy piano bits and the somewhere out there synth swells, perfect.  The song ends with a couple of the demo tracks spliced back in … a sort of accident, but definite nod to the title of the song,” says Bruce MacLeod.

Daniel Darrow adds: “This is a cover of legendary Scotland band The Orchids. Bruce and I are both fans of Sarah Records and our cover of this song is our tribute to a great time in music. We’ve added a modern twist here that retains the core beauty of the song.”

I Was Just Dreaming’ is available exclusively via Bandcamp, where the ‘Memory Tree’ album can be pre-ordered. On May 31, this record also goes live on streaming platforms, such as Apple Music and Spotify.
