Circolo Vizioso translates to vicious circle, which is a great name for a punk rock band. Thank goodness that there is a punk rock band with that name. The band has a new single, “Choppy,” which is a little wild and crazy.
We love that it sounds like music that Strega Nonna would listen to while making love potions. Since the energy is witchy and intense, we are naming “Choppy” the track of the day.
During the COVID lockdown, Tony Scafidi (guitar, bass, drum, hi-hat, vocals) and Paul Geigerzaehler (violin, snare drum, vocals) formed Circolo Vizioso on a balcony in Berlin.
Breaking isolation protocol to play music together on a balcony seems like a very punk rock and kind gesture to make for their neighbors. That must have been an amazing moment in a weird, lonely time.
“I’d had a severe break up and the song went out as a sort of persistent beat, prolonging an apex point that hardly makes it out of the main riff, opening up only at the very yet repeating it self only faster,” says Tony Scafidi about “Choppy.”
