Fighter has a unique distinction for the fact  it marks the first foray into Bollywood for ace director Puri Jagannath and the “angry young man” of Tollywood, Vijay Deverakonda.  Fighter has been making waves in  entertainment news of late, due to speculations about the leading female actress.  Early speculations pointed towards Jahnvi Kapoor as being the lead lady and a few days later more rumours came out that it would be Ananya Pandey, instead  .

Puri Connects, the production company behind Fighter finally put the rumours to rest by officially announcing Ananya Pandey as the  lead and put out a tweet welcoming her. The news was celebrated by fans of Puri Jagannath and Vijay Deverakonda.  Vijay Deverakonda posted a tweet welcoming Ananya Pandey as well.

Not long after Ananya Pandey posted a tweet as well saying she is blessed and happy to join the cast of Fighter along with another message welcoming Vijay Deverakonda to Bollywood.

 Ananya Panday was earlier seen in Student Of The Year 2 and Pati Patni Aur Woh. Fighter is a movie based on mixed martial arts and boxing, for which Vijay Deverakonda underwent intensive training.  Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Vishnu Reddy, Getup Srinu and Ali will also appear in supporting roles in Fighter.
