Rohit Shetty previously made the movies Singham and Simmba, which starred Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh respectively.  The director is back with a third police movie, Sooryavanshi, which will star Akshay Kumar as the lead.  Rohit Shetty is building a cop universe with these films, with a crossover of characters from Singham and Simmba in Sooryavanshi.

Jackie Shroff will be the latest actor to join the cast of Sooryavanshi.  The surprise announcement came on social media on Reliance Entertainment’s Twitter handle.  The post also had a caption which revealed more surprises are in store. The announcement coincides with Jackie Shroff’s birthday.

Sooryavanshi is a cop film directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Dharma Productions in association with Reliance Entertainment.  This movie has Katrina Kaif as the female lead. Earlier, a small teaser showing police officers Singham, Simmba and Sooryavanshi shooting away on machine guns was released, showing a crossover of the three cop universes.
