The Imtiaz Ali directorial Love Aaj Kal, which stars Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan, is a sequel to the 2009 film which was also named Love Aaj Kal.  The first poster was released yesterday on Twitter by the production company Maddock Films.  The tweet by Maddock Films read, “Meet Veer & Zoe, captured in their element. It’s in these simple, candid moments that love plays peekaboo, right? #LoveAajKal Trailer out tomorrow! (sic.)”

Maddock Films released the trailer on their official YouTube channel today, which shows Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan as Veer and Zoe.  The trailer clearly shows us two different timelines, one which is set in 1990 and is referred to as ‘Kal’ and one which is set in the present and is referred to as ‘Aaj.’

Maddock Films tweeted, “1990 se lekar 2020 tak, pyaar same hai, bas andaaz alag hai. #LoveAajKal (sic.)”  Kartik Aaryan is spot on in portraying the characters from two different eras. Arushi Sharma plays Kartik Aaryan’s love interest in the 1990 timeline, while Sara Ali Khan plays his love interest in the present timeline.  However, going by the trailer, it seems like this movie will be similar to the Love Aaj Kal which was released in 2009.

Love Aaj Kal is scheduled to be released on the 14th of February.  It will be interesting to see how the story plays out and what makes it different from the first part.
