Sangeet is an event which is a part of Indian weddings, where the families of the bride and the groom come together for an evening filled with fun, dancing and bonding. This is an event to which every Indian couple about to get married look forward. As Priyanka Chopra herself said, “At our wedding, both of our families came together to perform a sangeet. A performance (dance-off competition style) that celebrated our love story, one of the most unforgettable moments from a very special time in our lives.”
Priyanka Chopra revealed on her official Instagram handle that along with her husband Nick Jonas, she would produce an untitled project for Amazon Prime Video, which would highlight the love and magic of an Indian sangeet. Streaming giant Amazon Prime Video also confirmed the news on their official Instagram handle.

The untitled series will feature couples who are about to get married during the spring or summer of 2020. The shortlisted couples will be featured on the series with their families and friends while they prepare for the wedding and the sangeet, including at the rehearsals. The couples would be assisted by a team of celebrity choreographers, stylists and creative directors. The casting is currently underway, while filming will begin in 2020.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, who got married last year in India, will be the executive producers of the show along with Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz and Dan Volpe of Alfred Street Industries, Anjula Acharia, Phil McIntyre and Nina Anand Aujla. Priyanka Chopra Jonas will executive produce the series via her Purple Pebble Productions, while Nick Jonas will executive produce under his Image 32 banner. Amazon Studios will produce the series.
“The sangeet is such a beautiful tradition and we’re excited to partner with Priyanka and Nick to honor it through this series and find couples from all different backgrounds that are excited to bring their families together through the universal language of song and dance,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios.
Priyanka Chopra’s last appearance was in The Sky Is Pink and she will soon star in two upcoming Netflix films. On the other hand, Nick Jonas returned to the big screen with the recently released Jumanji: The Next Level, a sequel to Jumanji.
