Netflix India finally released the much awaited episode of My Next Guest With David Letterman in which Shah Rukh Khan (SRK,) the King of Bollywood, made an appearance as a guest.  In the hour long episode, Shah Rukh Khan spoke about his life, parents and receiving criticism.  Here are five things we learned about King Khan from the episode.

1) About losing his parents at a young age

Shah Rukh Khan, who lost his parents at a really young age, spoke about how he resents his parents for not spending enough time with him.  Not wanting his children to suffer from the same pain through which he went, SRK decided to ensure he lives a long life and not make his children feel like they don’t have a parent.

2) His decision to take up acting

Viewers were all happy to hear the young Shah Rukh Khan was just as lost as everyone else.  King Khan, who opted for the Science stream during high school, initially wanted to be an engineer.  However, on the show, SRK humbly revealed he soon came to the realization there are so many things he could not do, so he decided to become an actor.

3) His main goal as an actor

SRK also revealed how halfway through his career, he realised he was not as good as he thought.  However, he was okay being mediocre as long as he could find a place in people’s hearts. 

4) Shah Rukh Khan as a father

SRK also spoke about his life as a father.  He stated how much he hates when his children go through relationship problems.  However, instead of controlling his children, he gives them some good advice to cope with their problems.  The actor also revealed he is learning how to cook Italian food to satisfy his children’s midnight cravings.

5) His take on criticism

Shah Rukh Khan has received a lot of criticism throughout his career.  When asked by David Letterman if he gets affected by all the criticism, Shah Rukh Khan had a witty response.  SRK said, “A day before she (Shah Rukh Khan’s mother) died, I took in one of the series I finished in Mumbai to the hospital. I asked the doctor to set up a television set and a VCR and I played the episode. She died the next day. So, no amount of criticism makes me feel bad anymore.”

The Shah Rukh Khan episode left many of King Khan’s fans wishing for David Letterman to have another episode with him.
