In other to prevent the people of Anambra state from contracting Coronavirus, the State government has among other measures, introduced total lock-down measures in the State for the next two weeks effective Saturday, 11th April, 2020.

This was made known few hours after the state informed the general public about the first case recorded in Anambra.

Governor Willie Obiano made the announcement during a statewide broadcast at his Country home in Aguleri.

Briefing newsmen shortly after a closed - door deliberation with members of the State Covid-19 Action Committee, Governor Obiano pointed out that the measure has become neccessary as Anambra state has recorded its first index case of Covid-19. He confirmed that aggressive contact tracing has commenced.

The Governor called for less panic, and noted that the security agencies in the State have been authorized to arrest those who violate the order. He called on people to stay indoors, but wear masks if they must come out. 

He also charged people of Anambra to adhere to all advisory and directives by stakeholders in the COVID-19 fight.

However made indegins of Anambra are Reacting angrily to the State government for allowing the infectious virus to penetrate the state.

According to a facebook user identified as Kingsley ugotex said "You have failed as a governor, you keep hungry security's on borders to protect Anambra, don't worry another Pearson will still enter from Abuja in the next two weeks, stop deceiving us, Your doing this to get your own shear of money from federal government, the problem of hunger is getting out of hand still you don't care of that one, it looks easy for you to extend it till two weeks."
