Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc Begins This Weekend

Starting on Sunday, May 12, 2024, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’s newest season begins streaming on Crunchyroll.

The spring 2024 season has been packing some major punches, from the new series Kaiju No. 8, to the return of staples like Black Butler and My Hero Academia. But the Shonen manga and anime giant is back: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The newest season, the Hashira Training arc, will begin streaming on Crunchyroll on Sunday, May 12, 2024. It will simulcast new episodes every week everywhere the service is available across the globe.

Even if you did not catch Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Hashira Training Arc- film, that is alright. Crunchyroll posts a lot of recap content on big anime shows like this one, or you could always binge the previous season today in preparation for tomorrow. But I will try my best here to get all of the highlights from last season with the Swordsmith Village arc.

The importance of the village, which specializes in demon-slaying weapons, is finally revealed in the last arc. It also allowed the Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji to shine for this season, showing off her fighting prowess. It also details the backstory of Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito, who gained his lost memories through Tanjiro Kamado. We also learned that Genya Shinazugawa is somehow the only character who uses a freaking gun to slay demons; it makes sense, though, since he cannot use Breathing techniques but is able to harness demon powers.

Once Tanjiro and the others in the Swordsmith Village finally vanquish the Upper Rank 4 demon, Tanjiro’s sister Nezuko does not make it out of the rising sun’s rays in time. In a tearjerking moment, Nezuko pushes Tanjiro off of her, ultimately being hit by the full sun and burning to death. However, this was a major reveal that Nezuko conquered the sun as a demon. Lastly, we learned about the big bad villain, Muzan Jackson…I mean Muzan Kibutsuji’s real goal the whole time was to find a solution for him to conquer the sun. So, now he is plotting a way to get Nezuko and study her for his own gain.

This was pretty much all of the main plot points from last season that sets up the beginning of tomorrow’s premiere of Demon Slayer season 4. Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps. is now in a pickle to protect Nezuko at all costs while also training for the final fight with Muzan and the remainder Kizuki demons. Without giving too much away, the premiere one-hour episode is titled ‘To Defeat Muzan Kibutsuji.’ It will show off two of Hashiras’ combat abilities we have not really seen before. Also, it will contain a lot of planning and discussions around the plans of the Demon Slayer Corps. will be going forward, as it sets up this season.

Catch all the latest action from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season 4 (the Hashira Training arc) on Crunchyroll, starting on tomorrow, Sunday, May 12, 2024. If you have seen Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Hashira Training Arc-, then you can probably skip this week’s episode unless you want to see it again (why wouldn’t you?).
