Elden Ring 2 & More Expansions Could Happen According to Hidetaka Miyazaki

Yesterday, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco unleashed a new trailer for the upcoming Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion DLC, and in an interview, he suggested more content could happen.

In an interview with IGN, FromSoftware Director Hidetaka Miyazaki answered some probing questions about the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion DLC, and in the interview, he answered other questions that may excite fans of their particular brand of hard game development. While there were answers to fans burning questions, such as “What is the Land of Shadows?” there was also other information given that would excite fans even past the June launch of the DLC expansion.

Hidetaka Miyazaki got straight to brass tacks, detailing the nature of the Land of Shadows in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, saying, “The setting of Shadow of the Erdtree is a brand new land. It’s a brand new map separate from the Lands Between. It is a land that is overshadowed by the particular Shadow of the Erdtree as opposed to the Erdtree in the Lands Between. And it takes place, again, on an entirely separate, physically separate map,” which may make it feel like a new game entirely. Miyazaki also explained that the Elden Ring expansion would be about the size of the Limgrave area or larger, with a gameplay experience similar to that of the base title.

Miyazaki shared insights about the franchise’s future following the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in the interview’s closing moments. He stated, “We don’t have any current plans for a second DLC or a sequel, but we definitely don’t want to snuff out that possibility. We think that there could well be something in the future.” This leaves the door open for the possibility of an Elden Ring 2 or another expansion in the future.

In an entirely separate interview with Eurogamer, Miyazaki also stoked the flames of hype regarding another FromSoftware license, Bloodborne. Miyazaki has said he was happy fans are clamouring for a remaster, including a tidbit about ‘not being allowed to say more’ about the prospect of a remaster.

Aside from an exciting future, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is coming, and fans will have to wait until June 21 to dive in.
