Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender Gives an Exciting 1st Look At Live-Action Jet & June

It’s no secret Netflix has been hard at work on an Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series, and today, the streaming giant gave fans a first look at the live-action series.

The live-action series will loosely follow the events of the Nickelodeon animated series of the same name, with the upcoming adaptation following Aang, the Last Airbender, as he attempts to harness the power of the four elements – fire, water, earth and, of course, air – as he sets out to restore balance to a world in peril at the hands of the imperialistic Fire Nation.

In celebration of the Winter Solstice, Netflix has revealed some impressive first looks of the live-action series, along with first looks of fan-favourite characters from the hit animation. While this isn’t the first peek fans have gotten at the series, this is the first time certain characters have been shown in full.

Characters like the Water Tribe’s Kanna (played by Casey Camp-Horinek) are shown in character for the first time, and other instantly recognizable Avatar: The Last Airbender characters. Even The Mechanist (portrayed by Danny Pudi) was shown, complete in his iconic outfit.

Ian Ousley (who plays Sokka) said, “Another thing that was a huge moment for me was getting to hold and unsheathe my boomerang for the first time. That was amazing” while also saying, “A cool personal thing for me was getting to work with actors that I was fans of beforehand, like Danny Pudi from Community,” about the highly anticipated upcoming adaptation.

While the cast and how they will appear on screen has been officially revealed, Netflix has finally given fans a release date for the exciting series. The Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation will land on Netflix on February 22, 2024. In the meantime, fans can head over to the official Tudum announcement for more details on the sneak peek of the upcoming series.
