AVerMedia BA311 Live Streamer Arm Review

Most people ask very little of their microphone arms. All they need is a little flexibility, a little versatility and the strength to hold what you put on it. A little style never hurts, too. Avermedia has checked all those boxes and then some with their AVerMedia BA311 Live Streamer Arm. It’s a boom arm that meets all of your needs and fulfils a few that you didn’t even know you had.

The nearly four-pound tube-style aluminum AVerMedia BA311 Live Streamer Arm is arguably the most flexible arm that I have ever tried. It can be used as a standard vertical arm or a low profile arm where the arm goes under your monitors and then raises up. It can go perfectly straight in any direction, including straight up, stretching over 34 inches. This means that, depending on how you want to use the arm, you can use it anywhere for any purpose. Its ability to steadily hold up to 5 pounds makes it ideal for even a DSLR/Mirrorless Camera setup.

The arm itself is not the only thing that is flexible. The head also has two different pivot points so that you can aim your microphone, camera or whatever you may want to attach to the Live Streamer Arm in any direction that you could possibly want. The first part of the head rotates 180 degrees clockwise/counter-clockwise, and the second part rotates perpendicular to that 360 degrees.

What makes the AVerMedia BA311 Live Streamer Arm a more versatile arm is that it comes built with both a ⅝” thread for your typical microphones and a ¼” thread for cameras and mounts for things like phones and tablets. There is no need to find an adapter when both options exist. You will just need to unscrew the ⅝” thread, and the ¼” thread is underneath.

Cable management is also an important feature of the better mic arms. The ability to discreetly tuck the cables away makes a cleaner setup. There is a slight indent along the arm that you can tuck the cable into and then hide with the provided cord covers. There is also a small clip on the C-Clamp to ensure that the cable runs down the last portion of the Live Streamer Arm and does not just go loose once it comes out the other end. Either a USB or XLR cable will fit comfortably into these crevices.

I’ve used the AVerMedia Live Streamer Arm for both microphones and for cameras. The fact that I can have it in one place and make it a regular mic arm, an overhead camera mount, a long-range arm to point a camera elsewhere and have it reasonably close to the subject is something that no other arm has been able to offer.

With an MSRP of $179.99 USD, the price exceeds the competition quite a bit, but so does the performance. If you are just looking for a mic arm that acts like a mic arm, you may not want to spend the extra $80. But if your setup requires a special solution to get your microphone where you need it or if you want to use it for more than just a mic arm, creating the need for the arm to be placed in multiple positions, then I couldn’t recommend the AVerMedia Live Streamer Arm.
