Netflix just released the official trailer for the new Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime series at New York Comic Con.
It is finally here! The moment we have all been waiting for and one of the first times Toronto, Canada, has been introduced to the world in a cool way. Netflix just released the official trailer and new images for the new Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime series coming to Netflix on November 17. The announcement broke out at New York Comic Con that occurred this past weekend. The panel was held at The Javits Center, and executive producers/writers/co-showrunners Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski confirmed that Julian Cihi would voice the Katayanagi Twins (Kyle and Ken).
This is not your typical North American-made “animated” series. Oh no, no, no. This is an actual anime series animated by the award-winning animation house Science SARU (Devilman Crybaby, Star Wars Visions) and UCP—a division of Universal Studio Group. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off revisits the iconic storyline of Scott Pilgrim meeting the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers. As fate would have it, he quickly discovers he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. However, there may be some new twists and turns along the way.
The series is still based on the graphic novel by O’Malley, but Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will be a reimagining of the cult classic adventure of love and romance my friends and I grew up enjoying. What is most surprising of all is that almost every cast member from the live-action film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World will be returning. You heard that correctly. The cast is reuniting once more to reprise their roles for this anime feature.

Edgar Wright has returned to the project as well! He was the director, co-writer and producer of the original film. He will serve on the anime series as executive producer alongside Marc Platt, Jared LeBoff, Adam Siegel, Michael Bacall and Eunyoung Choi. The trailer showed off some key moments from the graphic novel and original film, all in anime and video game form. The music was also very hype and retro arcade. While I will miss the vibes of Metric, this soundtrack also works for me.
