Minecraft Live 2023 Delivers Star Wars DLC And Updates

The Minecraft Live 2023 broadcast just aired, revealing new DLCs and updates, pre-celebrating the 15th anniversary of the game.

Minecraft Live returned for another stunning showcase, highlighting two upcoming DLCs coming to their respective games, along with updates and teases. The winner of the 2023 Mob Vote was also revealed. Mojang Studios’ Lydia Winters announced the 2024 plans for the game-verse, as the 15th anniversary celebration kicks off next year.

The head of franchise development at Mojang, Kayleen Walters, stated their appreciation to the fans and gamers who have supported them for many years. “As we kick off this milestone year, we eagerly look forward to honouring and celebrating your contributions, stories and adventures. Thank you for 15 amazing years of crafting, building and exploring together. Stay tuned for more updates and surprises in 2024!”

Beginning with the first DLC teaser trailer reveal for Star Wars: Path of the Jedi DLC. This DLC will be available in the Minecraft Marketplace on November 7. The trailer showed off players advancing from Padawan to Jedi Knight. The Minecraft community will be able to claim a free creator item in the Minecraft dressing room.

The next amazing DLC collaborating with Minecraft Education is the Planet Earth III DLC with BBC Earth. It was made to celebrate the launch of the new Planet Earth III TV series that premieres on October 19, 2023. This DLC would be similar to the Frozen Planet II DLC in that it would allow players to connect with nature as a message on how we should protect and respect nature. A literal message to touch grass but also to appreciate the natural world.

As for major updates go, Minecraft Legends will see some improvements since the game’s release back in April 2023. The team announced the latest Lost Legends, which will include “Creeper Clash” to celebrate Halloween beginning on October 19. Then, the game will also add “Snow vs Snout” with the December update that includes frogs, a new piglin unit and structure, and new witch allies in the game who will throw potions.

Afterwards, the Vanilla Minecraft Game Director Agnes Larsson and Mojang Chief Creative Officer Jens Bergensten talked about the Vanilla update 1.21. It revealed the new features would be coming to the game by mid-2024. This update will be massive as it will be introducing The Crafter, combat trial chambers, copper bulbs, trial spawners and The Breeze.

Ending off the show, Minecraft fan and singer-songwriter Alec Benjamin surprised fans with a performance of his hit song “Let Me Down Slowly”, but with the music themed to the games. With approximately 300 million copies sold, Minecraft has become the best-selling video game of all time. Be sure to check out the official Minecraft website for more detailed updates.
