After 17 years on the market, Roblox is finally making its way to the PlayStation family of consoles, and like every other platform, it is free to play.

Announced back in September on a PlayStation Blog post, Roblox is finally arriving on the PlayStation 17 years after its initial release. The free-to-play title is one of the most popular in the world, with over 60 million daily concurrent users and a marketplace filled with user creations that are sure to keep fans busy on the new platform. As a bonus, the release comes with complete cross-platform support on day one.

Interestingly enough, the PlayStation is the last platform to obtain the rights to Roblox, as the Xbox has retained the ability to access the massive game platform since 2015. PlayStation had also raised security concerns about the platform back in June, saying the title could exploit underage users. While nothing has been announced on this front towards today’s launch, it is still arriving on the PS store.

Roblox is an online game that not only allows players to build their own game within the game but also functions as a working MMO simultaneously. There is a massive variety of creations available for players to explore freely. Of course, if fans want to, there are paid in-game purchases that can dress your character for the occasion (completely optional).

How To Download & Play Roblox on PlayStation

Since the title releases later today, all fans have to do to play Roblox on their PlayStation console is head over to the PlayStation Store and search Roblox. After finding the title, fans will be allowed to download it directly to their console after the launch time of 6 p.m. EST.

Luckily for longtime fans, the PlayStation launch doesn’t affect your save, so the ease of cross-platform play is included on PS5 and PS4. Fans can play their favourite characters or games on PlayStation and then take their progress with them on the go via smartphone or portable PC. Roblox officially joins the PlayStation marketplace at 6 p.m. today.
