What may be considered the largest Xbox leak ever just happened due to the FTC v. Microsoft case, as a myriad of documents has appeared online showing the “Path to 2030”.

Sensitive material has surfaced online, leaking many of Microsoft’s future plans, all due to the remnants of the FTC v. Microsoft case that had many sensitive, unredacted documents appear online in the wake of the case. These unredacted documents show Xbox designs through 2028, and they include a handheld, a cylindrical digital Xbox Series X, and even the next-gen Xbox has been pulled into the light.

While all the leaked documents seem legitimate until Xbox officially addresses the leak itself, similar to how Rockstar Games apologized for their GTA VI leak, many of the documents could be in concept stages and may appear different upon release. The biggest Xbox leaks from the documents can be found below.

Xbox Leak: Xbox Series X Refresh Codenamed “Brooklin”

Remarkably, the Xbox Series X refresh ditches the box shape (more of a rectangular prism) for a more cylindrical design, and it also ditches the disc tray. The console is said to launch with 2TB of internal storage right off the bat, a “more immersive controller”, and will reportedly launch for the same price as the current Xbox Series X, according to the Xbox leaked documents.

Xbox Leak: Xbox Series S Refresh Codenamed “Ellewood”

The Xbox leak also exposed a refresh for the Xbox Series S, although consumers have just gotten access to the new Xbox Series S 1TB Black Edition, which this console also has. This device doesn’t adopt a new shape. It receives upgrades akin to the digital cylinder Xbox Series X, including a new controller. It’s worth mentioning the Ellewood reportedly drops at retail for $50 less than the previously released Black Edition but includes the new “more immersive controller.”

Xbox Leak: Xbox Series Controller Codenamed “Sebile”

What appears to be the most notable improvement for the two refreshed consoles is the Xbox leaked codenamed Sebile controller. The share button resembles the profile switch button on the Xbox Series X Elite 2 controller and opts for VCA haptic feedback similar to the Sony DualSense 5. With quieter buttons and the ability to wake up when the controller is lifted, the Sebile is a true upgrade. But, possibly, the most important upgrade is the rechargeability of the controller. This time around, fans can ditch their AAs for a charging cable with the rechargeable and swappable battery system. The listed price for a Sebile by itself is $69.99.

If the Xbox leak has revealed enough, their roadmap for the refreshed consoles has also been released. Both Series refreshes will likely be released in the fiscal year 2025, while the Sebile is apparently scheduled for a fiscal year 2024 release. This is “just in time for gifting season,” according to the Microsoft document.

Xbox Leak: Next-Gen Hybrid Cloud Console Coming in 2028

The FTC v. Microsoft documents have revealed a lot about the mid-gen Xbox consoles, but they’ve also pulled back the curtain on the potential successor to the Xbox Series. The new console concept appears to bridge the gap between Cloud gaming and console gaming and elects to combine the two for a singular experience. The console is described by Microsoft as “a next-generation hybrid game platform capable of leveraging the combined power of the client and cloud to deliver deeper immersion and entirely new classes of game experiences.”

The unredacted leaked documents have given the new console concept a release around 2028’s orbit, after the development period above. Whether Microsoft continues along this path after the Xbox leak is uncertain, but according to The Verge, there is a lot more under the surface that backs this leak than the others.

Xbox Leak: Upcoming Xbox Title Releases

The Xbox leaks went torrential with upcoming titles. According to the leaked FTC v. Microsoft documents, there are many titles on the horizon. The Indiana Jones exclusive appears to be closer than fans may think, as well as three “planned titles” that could be announced anytime soon. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is also receiving the remaster treatment on this list, as well as confirmation of the upcoming Starfield DLC.

Aside from the Oblivion Remaster and the Fallout 3 Remaster, fans can reportedly look forward to a Ghostwire: Tokyo sequel and a Dishonored 3 announcement in the near future. Xbox Leak: Phil Spencer Leaked Emails

Lastly, the Xbox leak exposed some of the goings-on behind the scenes via email between Phil Spencer and others, where he suggests Nintendo is “THE prime asset for us in gaming.” He goes on to say, “Getting Nintendo would be a career moment” on the prospect of Microsoft owning Nintendo in an email to CMA of Microsoft Chris Capossela. Microsoft apparently wanted to buy Nintendo back in 2020.

Another email from Phil Spencer in 2020 details that he believes the Xbox is superior to the PlayStation. He writes, “We have a better product than Sony does, not just on hardware but equally important on the software platform and services on top of the hardware. We have the ingredients of a winning plan.” Spencer also goes on to say, “We haven’t won anything” when referring to their ongoing competition.
