HyperX Cloud III Gaming Headset Review

I’ve been living with the Hyperx Cloud Iii gaming headset for a few months now, and it has been stolen from me by my son more times than I can count. There has not been a time that I’ve gone to grab it to do some testing and found it where I left it. Someone in my house is always using it, and that’s a very good sign. Between comfort and style, the HyperX Cloud III gaming headset has quickly become the household favourite.

This is a wired headset that comes in at $99.99 USD, which doesn’t make it the cheapest on the market, but in all honesty, it’s worth the price. The Cloud III comes with plush memory foam on the earcups and headband, making it an easy choice for long gaming sessions. I never felt pressure on my head or my ears, no matter how long I wore it. It is easily one of the most comfortable wired headsets I’ve tested.

Outside of comfort, the HyperX Cloud III gaming headset also looks slick. It comes in all-black or a black-and-red combo, which is the version I tested. Something about black and red just screamed gaming to me, and it appealed to my 8-year-old as well. You can’t go wrong with those classic colour choices.

With the headset, you’ll find a removable mic which is serviceable. It features a built-in mesh filter to cut down on any background noise. During work meetings, it was very rare that my boss would hear anything other than me, which is surprising because working from home is pure chaos. The audio is backed by 53mm drivers. While the Cloud III isn’t going to bring you the sound of a $300+ headset, everything was clear and audible, with no distortion.

In the box, there is a 3.5mm cable as well as an extension that allows for USB-A or USB-C connectivity. This variety of connections allows users to use the HyperX Cloud III wired gaming headset with most systems, including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile. We used it with our gaming PC, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and my son’s tablet regularly. Switching between devices was as easy as plug and play, and I loved that the HyperX Cloud III gaming headset is so versatile.

The cables that come with the Cloud III are braided and feel like they are extremely durable. The headset itself is also incredibly sturdy, with my son regularly bending it, and at one point, my daughter absolutely dragged it around the house. The HyperX Cloud III gaming headset can live up to the durability of children, and that is enough to have me sold.

HyperX is a brand that I find always serviceable and reliable. I am never completely blown out of the water, but I find their devices often the easiest to use, the most comfortable and always at a digestible price point. The HyperX Cloud III wired gaming headset keeps that streak alive and has become the headset to beat in a family household full of kids and chaos.
