The speedrunning community is alive and well. For 2023, Games Done Quick (GDQ) is returning with Flame Fatales, and it will again feature the GDQ’s all-women speedrunning community.

Since 2010, Games Done Quick has championed charities with notable causes in an effort to promote awareness and help with global issues. The week-long speedrunning marathon, Flame Fatales 2023 returns for a jam-packed 2023, returning with a focus on charity. The proceeds from the week-long marathon will support the Malala Fund, an organization established to build a better education system for countries in desperate need. The Fund states its focus is to “support the work of educators and advocates and helps bolster girls’ secondary education around the world.”

Speedrunning is gaming at its technical highest. Some of the biggest competitors in gaming take on big titles in hopes of finishing them in fractions of the time it would normally take. The speedrunning schedule for Flame Fatales in 2023 is chock full of popular titles, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom even though it was only released this year.

Other titles on the speedrunning block are classics like The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past and Super Metroid, accompanying newer speedruns on the slate such as Fire Emblem Engage (run by AeonFrodo) and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (ran by Trivvaria). Fans can watch all of the exciting Gdq Flame Fatales 2023 action from the comfort of their couch or computer chair. Fans merely need to head over to the official Games Done Quick Twitch live stream, and all of the speedrunning in the name of charity can be experienced when the event goes live.
