Despite Wonder Woman 3 getting serious attention earlier in the month due to Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, commenting that it will be developed, a new report suggests there’s no plan for it.
On August 2nd, Gal Gadot said in an interview with comicbook.com, “It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together,” which added fuel to claims that a threequel could possibly be in the works. This is after the previous Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins cleared up any misconceptions about the third film being cancelled.
Gal Gadot then reaffirmed this is what she meant in an interview with Flaunt, stating, “I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran [co-chairperson and CEO of DC alongside Gunn] and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell,”
It’s interesting to note although Peter Safran and James Gunn are overhauling the DC Universe, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Henry Cavill’s Superman from the previous DC Universe made notable cameos in the recent Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Black Adam, respectively, despite all evidence pointing to both actors not reprising these roles again anytime soon.
According to unnamed sources from Variety, there are no plans for a third film, and outside of the prequel Max series, Paradise Lost, there is nothing else in development regarding the Amazonian hero. As of right now, fans should take this news with a grain of salt, as nothing has been formally confirmed about the existence of WW3.
