Fantastic Four Artist Creates Reptile Redesign and Impresses Mortal Kombat Creator

With Mortal Kombat 1 just around the corner, fans are hoping to see their favourites get added to the final roster, and it turns out the current Fantastic Four artist, Iban Coello, is one such fan.

On Twitter, Coello posted his take on the iconic Character Reptile, saying “I miss his human/ninja style. I tried to do homage to that without forgetting that he is a lizard!” The redesign has drawn a ton of attention from the fan community and even received a shoutout from Ed Boon, the creator of Mortal Kombat.

At this point, we still don’t know if Reptile will join the main roster of Mortal Kombat 1 or if he could also appear in the DLC. Of course, don’t take this as any confirmation, as it’s likely nothing more than Boon sharing a piece of art he was impressed by.

Mortal Kombat 1 is the twelfth installment of the fighting series, which functions as a “reboot,” taking place in a new universe hand-crafted by Liu Kang. As such, the game features re-imagined versions of iconic characters and also introduces a new mechanic called Kameo Fighters. These Kameo characters are completely separate from the main cast and work as assists that can be called in during a fight.

Here are the characters and Kameo Fighters we currently know about.
