Pokémon Go 7th Anniversary – What You Need To Know

Pokémon Go is encroaching on its 7th anniversary, and Niantic has a whole celebration planned for the title’s big day.

In celebration of seven years of catching, the Pokémon Go anniversary is upon us, and it starts today. Niantic implores fans to ‘party like it’s 2016,’ fans can participate by simply firing up their PoGo app with the bonuses applied automatically. Each day the celebration will deliver bonuses to players, and harder-to-find creatures will be more readily available.

Pokémon Go Daily Bonuses & Rare Catches

Below is a list of all the bonuses available on each day during the anniversary event and the rare Pokémon that can be found. Besides the daily exclusives, Squirtle wearing a Party Hat, Pikachu wearing a cake hat, Meowth, Ponyta, Galarian Ponyta, Absol, and Togedemaru can be seen in the wild as special spawns as well. It’s also worth noting July 9 is the return of Community Day Classic, and it will see increased spawn rates for Squirtle, including increased Shiny rates from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. local time.

  • July 6: 2× XP for catching Pokémon – Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle wearing a party hat
  • July 7: 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon – Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile
  • July 8: 2× Candy for catching Pokémon – Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip
  • July 9: 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance for Eggs placed in an Incubator on this day – Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup
  • July 10: Friendship levels will increase twice as fast – Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott
  • July 11: 2× Candy for transferring Pokémon – Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie
  • July 12: 2× XP for evolving Pokémon – Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio

Timed Pokémon Go field research will also be available to trainers, and fans will have until July 12, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time to complete it. The timed research has egg-hatching requirements also, so fans may want to act fast on it, as the following rare items will be available to earn during the event: 1 Incubator, 1 Super Incubator, 1 Premium Raid Pass, 1 Lucky Egg, 1 Rocket Radar, 1 Star Piece, 1 Incense, 77,777 XP, and an encounter with Pikachu wearing a party hat.

    • Flareon
    • Snorlax
    • Sealeo
  • Five-star Pokémon Go Raids
    • Zapdos
    • Moltres
    • Articuno
  • Mega Raids
    • Mega Blastoise

Lastly, Pokémon Go will offer a Masterwork Research Story All-in-One #151, available for US$5.00. As hinted by the number of the research, trainers who complete this research will earn an encounter with a Shiny Mew.
