Introducing Vesemir: Kim Bodnia will play the Continent’s oldest and most experienced Witcher in Season 2 of #TheWitcher.

Vesemir is also a long-time friend of Geralt of Rivia and helps train Ciri to become a Witcher across the franchise’s lore by author Andrzej Sapkowski.

In the games, Vesimir appears throughout The Witcher (2008) and Wild Hunt (2015) as a supporting character voiced by William Roberts.

Bodnia is the second actor to play the character in live-action after Jerzy Nowak in the 2002 Polish adaptation of the novels titled The Hexer (or Wiedzmin).

Before the official casting, Star Wars and Batman alumni Mark Hamill was interested in being Vesemir in 2018 – despite not knowing who he was.

@Club_Star_Wars @LHissrich I have no idea what this is or what it’s about but agree it could/should be played by me. 👍

The actor continued his chapter of confusion a year later and caught the interest of series creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

Despite rallying approval from fans and the Jedi master himself, Netflix ultimately chose their Vesemir for the next season.

Bugging Joining Geralt on his adventures are Coen, Bereena, Eskel and even Lydia while the first season’s main cast will return.

Yes, the bard could be back too.

Days before 2020, Netflix revealed Season 1 was streamed by over 76 million viewers after it debuted late-December.

The show also ranked second in the platform’s “most popular” shows, trailing behind Stranger Things 3.

Production for The Witcher season 2 is expected to happen early this year and is scheduled with an eight-episode release in 2021.
