Nowadays, Ukraine is gaining a lot of popularity among international students who want to pursue their MBBS from abroad. Ukraine comprises many of world-class Government Medical Universities that offer MBBS, MD and other degrees in medicine at a very affordable price. The students who complete their MBBS or any other medical degree from a Medical University of Ukraine are eligible to apply for a job in any part of the world.

The complete duration of an MBBS program in Ukraine is 5.8 years. The students are not required to pass any entrance examination to get admission in a medical university in Ukraine. Thus Ukraine has made it very easy for the aspiring student to fulfil their dreams of becoming successful doctors.

First of all, make sure the university you apply to is MCI Recognised. Currently, there are 16 MCI Recognised medical universities in Ukraine.

Before I answer this question, I want to tell you some facts:

• the best country for MBBS for an Indian student in India itself.
• there is no ‘best country for MBBS abroad’, each country has its own pros and cons
• Ukraine has good, average and bad medical colleges, even India does
• check the FMGE or MCI screening test passing percentage before choosing any college abroad.
• choose a college where the FMGE result has been more than 25% at least
• college and country wise data is available of FMGE passing percentage from 2012–18 now.
• ask your agent to show you the list,
• in the end, no one will ask you the ranking of the college or anything else, all that will matter is whether you clear the screening test or not

Now, the question is – ‘Is MBBS in Ukraine a good option?’ I will be answering this from the point of view of an Indian student. The answer is YES!

It is a good option but not all medical universities in Ukraine are good.

Important note – The faculty which teaches the local students is different from the faculty which teaches International students. You need to understand that the university which has the best faculty will be better in Ukraine. Most of these universities are at par with one another in terms of infrastructure.

Some facts:

• choose only MCI recognised medical universities in Ukraine, there are currently 16 such universities
• the duration is 6 years and you will be taught in the English language in every university
• learning the local language is compulsory
• the ranking which you see online is not at all the right criteria for selecting the university, always check FMGE result
• just like India, Ukraine has good, average and bad medical universities
• there is no difference between National and State level universities for Indian students
• there is corruption in some universities whereas there is no corruption in others.
• check the FMGE or MCI screening test passing percentage before choosing any college abroad.
• choose a college where the FMGE result has been more than 25% at least
• college wise data is available of FMGE passing percentage from 2012–18 now.
• ask your agent to show you the list
• in the end, no one will ask you the ranking of the college or anything else, all that will matter is whether you clear the screening test or not

In my experience, experiences of the students I have met and of the students who went through me and based on the FMGE passing percentage, these are the best Universities in Ukraine:

1. Bukovinian State Medical University

2. Vinnytsia National Medical University

3. Lviv National Medical University

There are many more good Universities like Kharkiv National Medical University, Bogomolets National Medical University, Ternopil National Medical University, Taras Shevchenko National University, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National Medical University, Ivano Frankivsk National Medical University. I have sent students to all of these Universities. I don’t promote any particular university.
