SLC’s ground staff awarded promised cash reward

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) says it has commenced the distribution of the cash reward promised during the recent Asia Cup for SLC’s ground staff.

Accordingly, 138 ground staff of the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS) who worked during the 2023 Asia Cup were rewarded on Wednesday morning (06 Dec.) by the National Curator, Mr. Godfrey Dabrera, while 115 members of the ground staff of the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium (PICS) in Kandy are due to receive their cash reward on Friday (08 Dec.).

A cash reward of USD 50,000 (Rs. 16 million) was promised during the 2023 Asia Cup to the ground staff at the both the RPICS and PICS grounds, for their yeomen service during the tournament to ensure the practice facilities, outfield, pitches, covering and uncovering of the ground, and related services were in place and in time to conduct the tournament successfully, despite the bad weather conditions that prevailed at the time.

Curators, turf supervisors, ground staff, and technical staff are among the recipients of the reward payment, SLC stated.

The rewards were awarded jointly by the Asian Cricket Council and Sri Lanka Cricket, with each institution contributing US$25,000.
