World Cup still wide open, says Russel Arnold

The Sri Lanka team engaged in a training session yesterday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow after a day of rest following their game against Australia game at the same venue.

The team, along with the supporting staff conducted their training on the side wickets of the stadium while National Cricket Selection Committee Chairman Pramodya Wickramasinghe and team Manager Mahinda Halangoda were present with the team.

Team Manager Mahinda Halangoda mentioned that Matheesha Pathirana who had been recovering from an injury, returned to training under the observation under observation of Physiotherapist, Dr. Kiriella and the medical team. A decision regarding his availability for the next game is pending.

Lucknow is very familiar to Sri Lanka team after playing Australia game and having more than four days of training and they aim to win the next game against Netherlands. The team is very keen to do training while all bowlers and batters got good practice yesterday. The team management discussed this during the training session.

The experienced Dimuth Karunaratne, right arm leggie Dushan Hementha also did the training while skipper Kusal Mendis, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dhananjaya de Silva and Charith Asalanka and youngster Dunith Wellalage also did their training and fielding sessions with the team.

Sri Lanka team will arrange another training session today morning from 10 am and players are more focused on Netherlands game on October 21.
