THE ZEN TRICKSTERS

Venue: Landmark / Jeanne Rimsky Theater On Main St

232 Main St #1     Port Washington, NY

Unparalleled songwriting melds with lifetimes of music appreciation conjuring psychedelic originality spanning the outer reaches of jazz, the Grateful Dead, and beyond resulting in new and inventive magic. For over 40 years, these travels move listeners to the limits of imagination, solidifying The Zen Tricksters cornerstone in the foundation of the modern Jam Band temple.

“The Tricksters are more than just a cover band. They have their own stuff and they are brilliant, their stuff is brilliant. They are great players!”–Phil Lesh

“Before there was a jam band scene, there were The Zen Tricksters…” — Rolling Stone’s Frickes Picks by David Fricke

The Zen Tricksters have four albums of original material, and one live double-disc recorded at the Rex Foundation Benefit Black-Tie Ball in 2005. Phil Lesh, so impressed by the studio-jams of their second CD, A Love Surreal, tapped two members to be part of his Phil & Friends collective.

ROB EUROPE

Venue: White Oak Wine Garden

2 Manwaring Rd     Shelter Island, NY

Rob Europe didn’t get started on the North Fork music scene, but rather the North Fork music scene got him started playing blues, rock, soul, folk and country. In his teens, other local bands and musicians who were established guided him, introducing him to a network of entertainers, venues and listeners. Europe started out playing the blues, for the most part, and has expanded his repertoire to include a balance of genres.

“My style is very much a rootsy one, I do soft solo acoustic stuff in one place and then you can see me elsewhere with a full band playing my electric entirely too loud,” Europe said. “Anything in between is also possible, but the one constant is that I will more than likely be playing fingerstyle [plucking without a pick].”

For all you Jazz Hounds, Rob Europe is the great-grandson of influential Ragtime jazz composer and bandleader James Reese Europe!

Singer-Songwriter Julia King has a great debut album called Radio Therapy. The culmination of this album highlights King’s diverse songwriting styles in a brilliantly poetic Misfit Americana mash-up. There are hints of R&B, Jazz, Country, Pop, and Rock & Roll sounds. Song after song King pulls you into her world of Sultry, Sexy, Tormented and Angsty expressionism. Celebrated for music that is undeniably relatable, King has turned everyday therapy into sonic art.
