FOLKIE FEST!

CELEBRATING THE MUSIC OF

GORDON LIGHTFOOT, CAT STEVENS & JONI MITCHEL!

Venue: Moriches Field Brewing Co.

1 Wilcox Ave, Center Moriches, NY

Showtime: 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Center Moriches, NY August 15, 2023: If you missed the July event at the brewery, or want more, you’re in luck. For those who like a brew (or glass of wine) with their music, these events are for you! As always we bring a mix of emerging and established artists sharing original works with a nod to familiar songs from well-loved mainstream artists.

Folkie Fest favorites Rorie Kelly, The Karpenteers Duo, Butterfly Cody Duo and Kathy Patterson are sure to offer a variety of styles sure to please. Joining us for the first time is Marty Attridge, though he’s no stranger to LI music fans. A folkie favorite is stepping in for Kerry, as he had a conflict come up, you will enjoy the sound of Dave Christian!

Rorie Kelly is an award-winning singer/songwriter/ladybeast from Long Island. Her music has been featured in film and TV shows, received radio airplay around the world, and led her to perform at the Obama White House in 2016.  Her most recent album Shadow Work is about shining a light in the darkness and healing wounds. The songwriting looks deeply into topics like self worth, growth and letting go, and how our culture treats people who don’t fit the mainstream “default.” The opening song, “Full Moon Charm Bracelet,” was featured in the 2021 film Hearts and Vines, which won a Telly Award for Use of Music.

Henry and his wife, Kristi are part of the popular “Karpenteers” tribute to the Carpenters, are performing as duo for this special Folkie Fest. Henry Diaz is a guitar/bass player and singer/songwriter from Suffolk County He has done everything from solo performances to 8 piece bands, entertaining audiences throughout the Tri-state area. He and his wife Kristi run 2 Worlds recording studio and have recorded/produced three full length albums and a remake of the 1985 hit, We Are The World. He is currently working on an original album of mixed vocal and instrumental pieces for piano and guitar. One of his instrumental pieces has already become the latest Folkie Fest Theme song.

Kathy is a local singer/guitarist playing pubs and restaurants on Long Island as a single, duet or trio act. She has worked with many different styles and genres for over 40 years, including playing guitar and singing with her husband Frank Patterson on percussion in their duet The Pattersons, and with Greg Seck in their trio Cover Stories, performing specialty acts at benefits and tribute shows, fronting a traditional Celtic band, and sitting in with a bluegrass band on banjo. Primarily a singer and guitar player, Kathy performs acoustic versions of pop, folk, rock and Irish tunes, as well as some of her own original works.

Marty Attridge, a singer/songwriter/musician from New York has been writing and performing music for several decades. Over that time, he has amassed quite a bit of material. Marty is known to many as part of the band “Who Are Those Guys.” Their vast collection of original songs are a mix of rock, blues, folk and country with a classic sound that’s all their own, in part from Marty’s songwriting. He brings some of his original works to the Folkie Fest stage.

Sharon and Doug Attridge are a musical duo from Mattituck Married since 1995, the duo plays rock, country and blues with an eclectic twist. Their unique blend of Doug's vocals and guitar along with Sharon's "in the pocket" bass has been wowing audiences on both forks. When not working as a duo they can be found performing in the "Butterfly Cody Experience" and "The Lindsey Reeve Band." Doug also performs with his brother in "Who Are Those Guys"

Folkie Fest offers an ongoing concert series with local acoustic artists in the spirit of folk music as envisioned by the late Pete Seeger. We provide a listening space and support live, local, singer/songwriters sharing their original work. A 50/50 raffle is held to benefit Long Island Cares: The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Head on down to the waterfront at Sousa Memorial Bandshell for a fun evening of New Orleans infused music. as parlayed by Lil’ Sammy and the Funked Up Daddys alongside their special guests the New Orleans Brass-A-Holics horn section!

Lil’ Sammy and the Funked Up Daddys are a rag tag NY band from Long Island, and one of Port Washington’s favorite local talents. The Funked Up Daddies are a cover band and damn proud of it, covering all facets of Rock and Roll: they can funk, rock, wail blues and get a room full of people shaking their tail bones.  They will be joined by their good friends from New Orleans, the Brass-A-Holics horn section!

Since 2010, the Brass-A-Holics have been taking their unique sound around the world. Steeped in the deep musical culture of New Orleans, the band brings a heavy dose of go-go funk to the New Orleans brass sound. In a blending of musical cultures stemming from cities separated by more than a thousand miles, a Brass-A-Holics live show takes the New Orleans brass band culture and infuses it with the electricity of Washington D.C.’s go-go. The resulting sound is both captivating and unique. The band consists of core New Orleans brass elements -trumpet, trombone, saxophone- and adds a full drum set, percussion, keyboard, bass and electric guitar, giving the band limitless options to explore new sonic territory. Whether performing their original music or using the framework of hit pop songs as springboards for fiery improvisations, there is something in the set to appeal to every music fan. Once the music starts, the demographics blend and a brand new experience is created – one that leaves one-of-a-kind memories that live on long after the last note.
