Remembering Billy "The Mountain" Cairns on his birthday!
Billy Cairns was our drummer in the Freelance Vandals who was so adept on those skins that he could have out drummed any of those big shot drummers in the music biz.
I first met Billy when we were both students @ The University of Dayton. My favorite memory of Billy is when I first met him at an off-campus party. I had gone upstairs to use the bathroom and when I came out of the bathroom this huge figure of a man came plunging out of the shadows in the hallway. Bill then grabbed me by the shoulders and threw me down the stairs while yelling, "Hey! I could play drums with you y'know!" As I lay at the bottom of the stairs I looked up at Billy and said, "Your hired!"
