American Legion Babylon Post #24  Babylon, NY

Heralding from Long Island, New York, Strange Houses is a band of obsessive individuals (relatively speaking) making original, minimally processed music for discerning listeners. The band is an odd amalgam of musical tastes and inspirations: a drummer that slams a backbeat and rolls through the toms like a thunderstorm, a classically trained lead guitarist with an unapologetic penchant for Kiss, an over-qualified multi-instrumentalist slumming on bass, and a rhythm guitarist with alt-singer-songwriter pretensions and a bad habit of penning obscure lyrics. Somehow this all comes together in a not altogether unpleasing way.  Come on down and join them as they celebrate the release their latest album, The Center Of it All.  Showtime: 8 pm - 10 pm.

Americana singer-songwriter, Bill Shuren performs an evening of songs that are transformed into soulful narratives that reveal lessons to be learned and stories to be told.  Showtime: 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm.


2nd - Mind Open 

Tap & Barrel  Smithtown, NY

New York psychedelic jazz rock band Mind Open makes an appearance at Long Island’s legendary Tap and Barrel. Electric vibraphonist Chris Covais, guitarist Andy Berman, bassist Hugo Lopez, and percussionist Dan Nadeau will no doubt delight in a dazzling display of sonic goodness.  Showtime: 10 pm.


2nd - The Hideaways 

Charlotte's Speakeasy  Farmingdale, NY

The Hideaways, who have been making waves with their new album The Lost Tapes Vol 1, return to this historic venue that was once an actual speakeasy during the Prohibition era.  For those who are not familiar with Charlotte’s Speakeasy: In keeping with the old-timey Speakeasy tradition, in order to get into the club, you will need to grab the “password of the week” which is available on the venue's website...ooh la la!.  Doors open at 7 pm, and it is suggested to come early; the place is small and they only let 125 people in at a time.


2nd - Shecky & The Twangtones Trio

Jim Moran, a longtime player on the LI music scene, hosts a lively open jam every Sunday at the Station Pub in Sayville.  Expect the unexpected!  Showtime: 3 pm.


3rd - Souvenirs: The Songs of John Prine 

The Long Island Museum  Stony Brook, NY

For almost fifty years, from his 1971 self-titled debut album to 2018’s The Tree of Forgiveness, John Prine’s songs have been an important part of the American musical landscape. This past June, John Prine was inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame adding to a long list of honors including several Grammy Awards.  The Sunday Street series continues its tradition of devoting an evening to the songs of noteworthy songwriters (Jack Hardy, Mose Allison, Warren Zevon and Randy Newman in past years) by presenting Prine’s songs performed by some of this area’s outstanding musicians. Participating Artists: Emily Duff, Dan Hartmann, Cassandra House, Mary Lamont w/Jim Marchese, Pete Mancini, Dave March, Travis McKeveny, Miles To Dayton, Quarter Horse and Russ Seeger. Special thanks to Pete Mancini and Dave March for coordinating this event. Advance sale tickets are $20 at www.sundaystreet.org through Friday, November 1st with tickets at the door for $25.  This event will benefit WUSB-FM.  Showtime: 5 pm.

14th - The Brother Pluckers

Sharing a love for acoustic music, improvisation and live performance, the Pluckers bring to the stage a lively take on beloved classics as well as deep cuts. The ensemble consists of Bluegrass instrumentation; acoustic guitars, upright bass, mandolin and banjo and some non-Bluegrass instrumentation; flute, harmonica and percussion. Harmony driven vocals and improvised jams derive their influence from multiple genres of music and result in a sound and a vibe unique to The Brother Pluckers.  Showtime: 8:30 pm.

Tebbitt, a veteran of the LI scene performs a solo show.  From the George Tebbitt website: "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away (ok, Seaford),  a young boy witnessed, on one Sunday night, a life changing event which was The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show.   It was then I said, That's what I want to do.  ...Guitar lessons, garage bands, and eventually a part of a very good and competitive Long Island club scene with Essence, a progressive rock band doing covers of Yes, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Styx, and of course, The Beatles.   From there, opportunity knocked and I joined Long Island's legendary Good Rats.  What a great lesson in Rock & Roll!  Many bands and projects followed, giving me the opportunity to play with some of the best musicians...Still crazy after all these years playing solo gigs covering almost every style of music and most importantly having fun!"  Showtime: 5 pm - 8 pm.


15th - Gene Casey & The Lone Sharks

Gene Casey formed the Lone Sharks after moving to Long Island’s East End in 1988, having received his baptism performing in the NYC / NJ area (Mudd Club, CBGBs, Maxwell’s, et. al) the waning days of punk/new wave. The Lone Sharks became a mainstay in the late 1990s Hamptons music scene, when bars were plentiful and audiences robust and loyal. Throughout the 90s and into the new century Gene and the evolving line-up of Sharks men were the house band at The Wild Rose Cafe, a Bridgehampton night spot where packed houses danced to the roots rock and swing. Gene’s original music emerged periodically to great acclaim and local and international indie radio play. Several of Gene’s roots-drenched songs have been used on the soundtracks to television and feature films, including “Justified” and “Sons of Anarchy” ; the 2012 thriller “The Tall Man” starring Jessica Biel, the 2013 release “The Killing Season” starring Robert DeNiro, and Rob Reiner’s acclaimed “Being Charlie”. March 2017 saw the release of Gene’s latest CD, “Guitar In The Rain” an album celebrating the roots of contemporary Americana with original songs that evoke t
