FOUND RELATIVE!

Not too long ago, I found a relative that I didnt even know about.  Apparantly my Dad had a Cousin and maybe cousins that I didnt have any idea about. How wonderful!  She is my 2nd cousin -- my dad's first cousin and lives in the state of Oregon.  She moved here to the USA with her husband in 1968.  They first lived in Texas and then moved to Oregon about a year ago.  Now, she was my dad's first cousin related to him by his dad (my grandad) being brother to her dad.

I was elated to find her and we have talked on the phone a few times to learn about each other.  Her name is Barbara and she told me that her dad and my grandad were best friends.  I asked where they grew up and she said on Edgeware Road in London and that they lived in a flat that was above horse stables.  How interesting!!

So we found each other and corresponded through phone calls, but I found her son on facebook and he and I share some things across our pages and he sends pix of recipes that he and his mum have cooked together.  Occasionally I send him a pix across messenger of something I have made.  Well we found that we have similiar taste buds and like the same self things to eat. Here is an interesting recipe website you can look at.

Anyway, last time he texted me he said he would come and visit in the spring or summer.

So when I was talking to Barbara I told her my dad's name was Sydney and she didnt know that -- she said she thought it was Len.  Anyway, in discussing these things I learned that she had a family tree that she had done with her brother, and I asked if I could have a copy.  So she went and made a copy and sent it to me.  Its huge like a blueprint for a house design and she rolled it up and put it in one of those blueprint document tubes and mailed it to me.  I was SO grateful.  What a gift !!  It has several generations of my people listed on there including pictures of members as well as one of  her.  So I have that where I keep my forever treasures and hope that I dont ever lose it.

I have a lot more to learn about my family heritage, but the family tree so well put together is a huge start to uncovering all there is to know.
