How to Begin Editing Our Karma? [Part 4] Dark Energy

Disclose: Dear reader, while you might be interested in learning more about karma, reincarnation, soul matters, and how we can help ourselves become better individuals – instead of just getting old – it’s entirely possible that the content of my articles alienates you, especially if you happen to feel that, within the cultural and societal framework as it exists today, your life is satisfying, more full of genuine contentment than of stress, d anxiety and upheaval.

Truly, my writings are for those of us who think that no matter how “normal and reasonable” our response to life’s challenges, big and small, is, and no matter how “normal and reasonable” to others, there is another way to DO life.

Basically, you could say that my approach to authentic spirituality is one that accepts the status quo dictated by the mores of society, but also encourages us to do more than complain about our lot, more than read about how to improve our fate, more than pray, sing and dance, more than meditate too, because all these activities can only relieve the symptoms, not the root causes.

Intertwined by years of daily dialogue with my mentor, Moriya, I became familiar with the philosophy of JD Krishnamurti, Paul Brunton, Alan Watts and Idries Shah. I explored the writings of Maurice Nicoll, John Blofeld, Reshad Feild and Alan Keigthley. I have also read a number of texts on Zen Buddhism, too numerous to cite individually, but some of them by DT Suzuki, and I have become acquainted with the books published more recently by Eckhart Tolle and Alain de Botton.

I quoted and referenced most of these writers in my early articles because, at that time of dawning understanding, I was mainly writing some sort of analysis of their thought in the context of Moriya’s teachings. The overlapping discourses of all these wise thinkers now digested, I have come to form my own blended philosophy on matters of Karma and its integral, cosmic relevance to our heart and soul. The bottom line being that very little, if anything, we propose to do that stops before we dig deep into the core of our emotions, will produce long-lasting personal growth.

Although activities such as taking a walk and enjoying the sunset, solving a crossword puzzle, cooking a meal and enjoying the process are healthy distractions and sharing loving moments with our partner, playing with our child and helping an elderly neighbor doing the grocery shopping can provide us with beautiful moments of well-being in which we think life is good, life is good, honestly, I no longer believe that such moments help us rethink our whole basic responses whenever one of our many buttons is pressed ‘far enough’.

I honestly believe that nothing short of a true evaluation of our automated response patterns, followed by diligent awareness compounded by the hard work of engaged practice will generate – over time – a tangible and stable difference in the way we experience our lives.

It is only when we try to move away from our habitual response to dissatisfaction, our inability to truly forgive and truly love unconditionally, that we can begin to render obsolete some of the “natural” but highly unachievable actions and reactions that trigger hot spots. and flare-ups with strangers, in our home, at work and, most importantly, in our psyche.

And so, dear reader, unless the words above resonate with you – or at the very least pique your curiosity – rather than read on, I would wholeheartedly suggest that you take a walk and enjoy the sunset. sun, solve a crossword puzzle, cook a meal and enjoy the process, share loving moments with your partner, play with your child and help your elderly neighbor with the shopping because, in truth, even a moment of momentary well-being a day is better than nothing, if it lowers our stress levels and generates an opportunity for small doses of selfless kindness to sneak in.

Who are these people?

When it comes to our reading preferences in the 21st century, it is clear that it is neither books about the triumph of the human spirit, nor biographies, nor collections of poetry that maintain the impression in the industry of printing and strengthen online publishing. A glance at the list of fiction bestsellers suggests that reading “thrillers”, imagined, committed or solved crimes or murders, has become an international fascination. It seems to be on par with Romance as a hit fiction genre.

Another look at the endless array of blockbuster movies and series on the same subjects suggests that seeing the process of dying brutally, often slowly, usually gripped by fear and horror holds an equal fascination. A quick online search using general keywords like Horrifying Death will yield a wealth of actual, very horrifying deaths on our streets and homes downloaded, no doubt, for our viewing pleasure.

In our culture, death is feared. It is said to be horrible and oppressive. It is a subject of conversation to be avoided at all costs, even in hospitals, except in palliative care units. It is mentioned there in a low voice. Yet, from cold cases to real-time murders, autopsied chests and open skull cavities on morgue slabs and deconstructed/reconstructed murders, every copyrighted scene is carefully crafted to make an impact. This suggests that the highly graphic depiction of fear, death, and suffering somehow gives us endless hours of popular entertainment. Whether these murders are committed for love, revenge, profit or stupidity makes no difference to the reader or viewer.

Our collective attraction to criminal and murderous Energy as a form of ‘escapism’ means that we ingest extreme doses of this dark energy, as we watch ‘fear, death and violent suffering’ rendered graphic, night after night. on TV, DVD and the big screen – not to mention the ‘real’ human fear, suffering and death beamed into our living rooms and computer screens by our favorite news programs. The sum total of global interest in this kind of entertainment and escapism makes it clear that collectively we must have become immune to the emotional terror felt by others and the manner of their death. We have to suffer from empathy and/or compassion fatigue – like our teens and twenties/thirties. On the whole, they, too, seem to be interested in scenes that depict violent and often “sick” death scenes, as are those in “shooter” and horror movies.

To top it off, some of us also take the dark energy of detective fiction to bed with us inside our Kindles and the pages of our paperbacks. Some of us prefer to sleep with biographies and autobiographies of real murderers. Either way, sweet dreams! or sweet pill-induced sleep!

Absolutely everything in the universe is made up of atoms and molecules, therefore matter and energy, including the human body. It is an accepted scientific fact that it is energy that allows us to move and think. Beyond that, as thoughts carry intention, they generate energy. Words carry intention and they too generate energy. Spirit is matter and matter produces energy. It is another accepted fact that any compressed energy will eventually explode.

In terms of mental health, when a person’s energy is upbeat, it helps to comfort others. The same applies to the pure energy that emanates from an open connection to the Soul – it heals others. If a person’s energy is charged with, among other things, macabre thoughts and graphic images of sadistic torture drawn from regular doses of detective novels and murder scenes, it seems obvious that this energy is not likely to create an uplift in spirit – not for self, not for others.

Although having a collection of morbid snippets and violent images accompanied by weeping, gagging and rasping sounds made by the dying whose minds are filled with terror reverberating in our thoughts, is not the only reason why there is so much angst and violence in our society, it partly contributes to it.

The law of attraction acts on the human psyche. Thoughts allowed to settle in the mind, and cultivated over a period of time, nurture a nucleus which, if allowed to grow, attracts to itself conditions which will bring about concrete results of its own making.

Birds of the same feather flock together. Tarred with the same brush. Like attracts like and a number of like sayings recognize something similar, that dark energy attracts dark energy and nowhere is this more evident than in clans and groups that sow wanton violence. The attackers run in packs. The idea that dark energy attracts dark energy is also evident among other groups that come together in packs. Black might be their go-to color, zombie worship in one form or another might be their thing. Secret religious societies are also “getting carried away”, bound by rituals, smoke, mirrors and incantations. Could it be that, although disturbing, even frightening, dark energy needs groups of individuals to gain and maintain its momentum?

Secret societies, even those unconcerned with the afterlife, protect their darkness with secret handshakes, but it is not uncommon for members of elite societies to indulge in illicit urges. The Code of Silence included in the initiation ceremony oath binds these individuals together and keeps debauchery, when it occurs, hidden from outsiders. The members share each other’s dark secrets. They feed on this energy as much as they feed on it – and bring it back to “the wife and children”.

Light energy, Soul energy, the energy that results from genuine, non-ritualized spirituality and religion may well be stronger than the energy of violence, anguish and morbidity, for truly spiritual people prefer to withdraw from groups to exist alone with Soul as sole support, even as they lead productive lives among us. These people are humble. They prefer to wear pale colors. Black is not on their palette. They don’t have to walk around with a sign on their forehead that proclaims that I am a spiritually evolved being. These people seek light and fresh air. They breathe prana. These, with a strong connection to their soul, replenish their energy. Such people walk slowly and they heal quietly as they go – always for free, because how could they trade coins in exchange for the gift that Soul gives them for free? Escaping to an ashram, escaping into hour-long trances, or escaping to a cave protected by the fearful respect of superstitious villagers and depending on them for food is not necessarily a sign of a extreme spirituality.
