Year of the Dragon Toronto Chinatown Lunar New Year 2024

This weekend is the start of the Chinese Lunar New Year and Toronto's Spadina Chinatown is celebrating with a festival Saturday and Sunday, February 11 and 12, 2024. Saturday being the official new year and Sunday is just another day to party.
And it's not just any new year - this is the Year of the Dragon, bringing success, luck and power so I feel pretty good already. You can find some celebrations ongoing at the Dragon City Mall (280 Spadina Avenue) and the Chinatown Centre (222 Spadina Avenue) from 11am to 5pm. The event will include martial arts, Chinese dances, traditional eye dotting ceremonies, dragon and lion parades and some more stuff.
From the Chinatown BIA Facebook page, "Our Opening Ceremony will be held at Chinatown Centre on Saturday, February 10th at 11am with Traditional Lion Dance and the Closing Ceremony will be held at Dragon City Mall on Sunday, February 11th at 4:40pm."

Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival, is a vibrant celebration that marks the beginning of the lunar new year in Chinese culture. Families come together to clean their homes, decorate with red lanterns and paper cutouts symbolizing good fortune, and prepare traditional dishes for reunion dinners. Keep on the lookout for red envelopes containing money for good luck. It's a time for renewal, reflection, and wishing each other prosperity and happiness in the coming year.
