Hockey2Help was developed as a response to combat the need that COVID-19 has created. Organizers of this unique fundraising initiative powered by GameStop and EB Games Canada, have been uniting National Hockey League players, Alumni, and the Top Gamers in a marathon of epic hockey action from the comfort of their own homes. Through game play, the initiative is encouraging social distancing while at the same time, raising funds for some incredible causes.
Hockey2Help’s 14-day long series of livestreaming hockey action will benefit the COVID-19 relief efforts of Second Harvest (Canada), and Volunteers of America. These charities are tirelessly delivering essential services for thousands of seniors and our communities most vulnerable who are at increased risk of experiencing health and financial challenges during these unprecedented times.
Hockey2Help has already garnered support from Nasher, as well as National Hockey League players such as, Alex DeBrincat, Zach Hyman, Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews, Colton Parayko, Andrew Shaw, Robert Thomas, Zach Werenski and many more.
The campaign began on April 15 with the marquee match-up between Nasher with Matthews and Marner (Toronto Maple Leafs) vs OnTheBench. The action continued with Nasher and Zach Werenski (Columbus Blue Jackets) took on dontbesaad20 and Alex DeBrincat (Chicago BlackHawks). Additional match-up featured Nasher and Zach Hyman (Toronto Maple Leafs) vs. OnTheBench and JT Brown; Nasher and Zach Werenski (Columbus Blue Jackets) took on Colton Parayko, Robert Thomas (St. Louis Blues) and Tyler Stewart/Daddy adre (pro gamer). A schedule of upcoming games, players, dates and times remaining between now Wednesday, April 27th are soon to be announced.
Viewers tuning into //Twitch.tv/Nasher and Hockey2Help.net get to watch gamers host the streaming marathons as well as a 3-on-3 double-elimination tournament and are encouraged to get involved by making a donation. Not only do viewers who donate have the chance to win the grand prize of joining the streaming action, additional prizes include hockey experiences, memorabilia and more, provided by Hockey2Help’s gracious partners GameStop, EB Games Canada, Bauer Hockey, EA NHL 20 and Gretzky Hockey School.
