HON MURAINA PARTNERS WITH COMMUNITY-BASED STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATIONS CHARGES THEM TO REMAIN FOCUSSED

“If you want to project what becomes of the future of a set of people, look at the activities of the youths” M.Ghandi By traditions, Christmas and new year festive seasons are always packed with students’ activities across all communities within Ibarapa. Elections and students’ week are always fixed around this time and both students and community stakeholders always look forward towards these events. Hon (Dr) Ajibola Muraina, a former Federation of Igboora Students’ Union Leader and serving member House of Representative Ibarapa Central/North Federal constituency has again seized the opportunity of this season to engage with students’ associations.

In his separate messages to the Federation of Ibarapa Students Association, Federation of Igboora Students’ Union, National Association of Igangan Students and other community students’ associations, the lawmaker charged students to remain focused, respect humanity, spread love and believe in themselves “Try to spread humanity and unity among others. Don’t lose hope, be as smart and as patient that nothing stops you from what you wish to achieve. Just believe in yourself and everything will come to you in the right time”. Hon Muraina also used the opportunity to inform the students that he has sponsored many developmental bills to domesticate high institutions of learning across the communities. This he said will, in addition to putting quality education on their doorsteps, the institutions when they come into fruition will provide employment opportunities for teaming youths.

The lawmaker noted that part of his activities includes linking the many youths with several employment  opportunities as well as local and foreign scholarships in addition to his personal scholarships and annual quiz competitions. Similar to what he has done in the past and including providing few logistics, Hon Muraina donated significantly towards the activities of the students’ bodies. According to the Guest Lecturer at the National Association of Igangan Students (NAIS) event Dr Olaogun Sunday Charles who is a lecturer in the Department of Veterinary, University of Ibadan and himself a former students’ leader the Annual students’ events across the communities have become part of our rich sociocultural values and it used to be sponsored by the local government in the past. “It is unfortunate that we no longer have responsible and responsive local governments.

The annual students’ activities are usually sponsored by the Local Governments. Unfortunately, this is no longer the practice, students have been neglected and the students have to sometimes tax themselves which subsequently become extra burden to them and their parents. Fortunately, we now have a member  of the House of Representatives who feels the pain of students and now performs  the roles for the Local Governments” Dr Olaogun said.
