..sets for final showdownThe high-ranked Peoples Democratic Party leaders on Wednesday summoned an emergency meeting after the decision of Wike’s camp , comprising of his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde, ex-Information Minister, Prof. Jerry Gana, and other prominent party chieftains from the party’s presidential campaign council to withdrawal from Abubakar Atiku presidential campaign movement.

The Wike camp announced their decision after a meeting at Wike’s private residence in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Wednesday morning.They alleged that the failure of the party’s Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu to resign from office, as the main reason  for their decision to step aside. They also stand by their words, insisting that the position must come to the South for balance, justice, and equity.

You will recall that few days to this latest development, the main opposition party went into a marathon meeting to weigh the impact of the withdrawal on the party’s plans, and to see how to pamper Wike and his people in order to avoid calamities in the elections.

According to the national publicity secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba  the party had been meeting since Wike’s camp announced their withdrawal from the campaign council, adding that the National Working Committee would make their decision public today after another meeting.

Wike is one of the top echelon of the PDP, and his exit from the party might throw a big blow on the chances of the PDP to claim the capital of South East voting blocs- Rivers State. And, their decision on Thursday will show whether they (the PDP) will risk allowing him to join the ruling party (APC) without implications.
