Is New Mortal Kombat Due For 30th Anniversary?

It was not too long ago that NetherRealm, the studio behind the popular fighting game series Mortal Kombat, gave a sneak peek into its future and upcoming project. Mortal Kombat is not as old as its competitors, but is significantly important in gaming history in regard to many features more than just the gameplay. The game series is known for ultra-violent content while engaging in violent “Fatalities” on defeated foes. The fans of the Mortal Kombat series are waiting for October 8, which marks its 30th anniversary.

First released in 1992, the game has evolved from just an arcade game to a global phenomenon. According to NetherRealm, there won’t be a new game release for the 30th anniversary and its next game will be separate from Mortal Kombat’s 30th-anniversary celebration. The game series has created a lasting legacy by introducing new characters, highly realistic 3D titles and improved graphics over the years.

There is a lot of anticipation among fans about the upcoming game ever since Mortal Kombat 11, the latest in their series. While the fans are eager to have an upcoming Mortal Kombat to celebrate the 30th anniversary, the game’s co-creator Ed Boon has ended the anticipation with a tweet he made on October 4, 2022. He made it clear that the next game announcement will happen in due time,  separate from the anniversary celebrations of 30 years of the legendary game. Gamers will have to wait for the celebrations to be over to get a new release update from the series.

While expressing his understanding of how anxious the fans are about the next announcement from the studio, he hinted about some huge celebrations the studio is planning for the 30th anniversary. With this much-awaited announcement, Ed Boon also made sure that fans don’t get disappointed in not learning about the next game on the much awaited 30 years anniversary. Gamers will also have the right idea about what the 30th anniversary will be actually like. We can at least expect NetherRealm’s next title from the Mortal Kombat universe.

The clear-cut update made by Ed Boon somehow came to the fans’ acceptance as he didn’t troll or speak hideously, but addressed their expectation in the right way. There is still a lot of anticipation among games about what is about to come up, despite when the studio announces their next game.

Launched first on October 7, 1992, the game has caused huge controversies for its title which also impacted the global gaming industry. NetherRealm now offers an epic Mortal Kombat 30th Anniversary Bundle consisting of the Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate and Simon McQuoid’s 2021 movie Mortal Kombat. The celebrations of the series’ 30th Anniversary are also added up with the new Arcade cabinet released by Arcade1Up along with a copy of the original game.

You can still look up to Mortal Kombat’s 30th-anniversary celebration to hear something more exciting from the franchise. Until then, play the Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate game on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Switch and Stadia!
