Uncle Frank is an American comedy drama film released in 2020. It was written, directed and co-produced by Alan Ball. The film stars Paul Bettany, Sophia Lillis and Peter Macdissi. Premiering at the Sundance Film Festival on January 25th, 2020, Uncle Frank was released on November 25,2020 by Amazon Studios. Set in 1973, Uncle Frank is the story of Frank Bledsoe and his young niece Beth who go on a road trip from Manhattan to Creekville for a family patriarch’s funeral. Soon, Frank’s lover Walid joins them unexpectedly. The plot revolves around a man struggling to confront his own identity in a judgy and homophobic world. Uncle Frank is considered to be one of the best LGBTQ films to ever have been produced.

Borat: Subsequent Movie Film

Borat: Subsequent Movie Film is a mockumentary black comedy directed by Jason Woliner and released in 2020. The film stars Sacha Baron Cohen and Maria Bakalova. It is a sequel to 2006’s Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. It received high praise from audiences and critics for Baron Cohen and Bakalova’s performances and for their commentary on American culture. The movie bagged three nominations at the 78th Golden Globe Awards, winning for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for Baron Cohen and Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. I Want You Back 

I Want You Back is an American romantic comedy film directed by Jason Orley. It was written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. The film stars Charlie Day, Jenny Slate, Gina Rodriguez and Scott Eastwood. It was digitally released on February 11, 2022, by Amazon Studios. With a stellar cast playing well-rounded characters, I Want You Back is the rare rom-com that delivers its romance as capably as its comedy. The story tells of Peter and Emma who thought they were on the precipice of life’s biggest moments such as marriage, kids, and houses in the suburbs until their respective partners dumped them. Horrified to learn that the loves of their lives have already moved on, Peter and Emma hatch a hilarious plan to win back their exes with unexpected results.  

Without Remorse

Without Remorse is a 2021 American action thriller based on the 1993 novel “Without Remorse” by Tom Clancy. It is directed by Stefano Sollima and written by Taylor Sheridan and Will Staples. Jordan, Jamie Bell, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lauren London, Brett Gelman, Jacob Scipio, Jack Kesy, Colman Domingo and Guy Pearce. Chi-Raq

Chi-Raq is a 2015 American musical crime comedy drama film, directed and produced by Spike Lee. It was co-written by Lee and Kevin Willmott. Chi-Raq stars Nick Cannon, Wesley Snipes, Teyonah Parris, Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett, John Cusack, and Samuel L. Jackson. The story is based on Aristophanes’ Lysistrata, a classical Greek comedy play in which women withhold sex from their husbands as a way to end the Peloponnesian War. It was the first film to be produced by Amazon Studios, released in select theaters on December 4, 2015. The film is set in Chicago and the plot revolves around the gang violence that’s prevalent in the neighborhoods of southern Chicago. 

The Tomorrow War

The Tomorrow War is a 2021 American military science fiction action film directed by Chris McKay and written by Zach Dean. The producers are David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, David S. Goyer, Jules Daly, and Adam Kolbrenner. The film stars Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, J. K. Simmons, Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge, Jasmine Mathews, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and Keith Powers. The plot is about present-day soldiers and civilians who are sent to the future to fight an alien army. 

The Map Of Tiny Perfect Things

The Map of Tiny Perfect Things is a 2021 American science fiction romantic comedy film directed by Ian Samuels. It was written by Lev Grossman based on his 2016 short story titled the same. It stars Kathryn Newton and Kyle Allen. The film was released through Amazon Prime Video on February 12, 2021. The sweet motion picture is a love story with a fantastical twist, as the two main leads get stuck in a time loop and keep living the same day.

One Night in Miami

One Night in Miami is a 2020 American drama film directed by Regina King. The screenplay was written by Kemp Powers. The film is based on the real life meeting of Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Jim Brown, and Sam Cooke in a room at the Hampton House, celebrating Ali’s surprise title win over Sonny Liston. The film stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodge, and Leslie Odom Jr. in the lead roles, with Lance Reddick, Joaquina Kalukango, Nicolette Robinson, and Beau Bridges in supporting roles. One Night in Miami premiered at the Venice Film Festival on September 7, 2020. The film was released digitally on Amazon Prime Video on January 15, 2021. 

The Report

The Report is a 2019 American political drama written and directed by Scott Z. Burns. It stars Adam Driver, Annette Bening, Ted Levine, Michael C. Hall, Tim Blake Nelson, Corey Stoll, Maura Tierney and Jon Hamm. The plot follows the brutal and cruel  investigation by the CIA following the 9/11 attacks. The lead character in the film is Daniel Jones. The Report premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 26, 2019, and  came out on Amazon Prime on November 29, 2019. Human Rights First awarded the 2019 Sidney Lumet Award for Integrity in Entertainment to The Report.
