Ragnarok

The Norwegian-language fantasy drama Series inspired by Norse mythology shares the core genre identity of Dark, the European sci-fi series steeped in lore. The show follows two brothers, Magne and Laurits, who move to a small fictional Norweigian town of Edda in Western Norway, poisoned by pollution and rattled by melting glaciers. They soon discover all is not well and the End Times feel all too real. The show uses climate change as the jumping-off point for a conspiracy of Norse mythological creatures. Magne’s unassuming form makes for a great protagonist, but Laurits’s distinctness steals the show.

Orphan Black

The Canadian science fiction thriller series, Orphan Black is created by screenwriter Graeme Manson and director John Fawcett. The show follows Sarah Manning, a woman who witnesses the suicide of one of her fellow clones, Elizabeth Childs who looks just like her. She assumes Childs’ identity, leading her to unlock a world of secrets. The bending, suspenseful and exciting show starring Tatiana Maslany revolves around several clones as they deal with issues about the moral and ethical implications of human cloning and its effect on identity. The show has a loyal online fandom who identify as #CloneClub on various social media platforms.

Stranger Things

The science-fiction horror series created by the Duffer Brothers is set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana and follows the exploits of a group of kids who deals with monsters from another dimension and a girl with psychokinetic abilities named 11. The series is defined to be like candy for its intense nostalgia that anyone could digest. The series which premiered on Netflix in July 2016 has become much popular by now. All the three episodes of the show are favourite for their captivating appeal, charming cast and genuine writing.

Kingdom

The South Korean political period horror-thriller series created by Kim Eun-hee is Netflix’s first original Korean series and one of the best Netflix horror series. The series is adapted from the webcomic series, The Kingdom of the Gods, authored by Kim Eun-hee and drawn by Yang Kyung-il. The show is set in the 1500s of Joseon Korea where a mysterious plague overtakes the land. While strange rumours spread about the ill king, the crown prince becomes the only home against the pandemic. The show is an epic zombie drama with massive battle scenes amidst the striking scenery, royal politics, class warfare, and a sword-swinging army against the legions of undead. Quite timely, eh?

Outlander

The historical drama series developed by Ronald D. Moore is based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling novel series. The breath-taking series features Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, a married former World War II nurse who in 1945 is suddenly transported back to Scotland in 1743. She finds that her life is constantly threatened in a dangerous new reality and is forced to wed the dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) out of safety. Their marriage turns into a passionate love affair that transcends time and space.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

The Anime television series directed by Yasuhiro Irie, produced by Bones and written by Hiroshi Ōnogi is an adaption of the manga series of the Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the sequel to the anime television series Fullmetal Alchemist released in 2003. The anime series that revisits the original anime series by sticking closer to the manga is one of the most favourite of all time. The series is a sprawling shonen epic, set in a fantasy world fully realized and realistic, filled with captivating characters. The show is regarded as one of the best shounen anime for its action, humour-filled fights and adventures of the alchemist brothers Edward and Alphonse.

One Punch Man

One Punch Man is a popular anime that belongs to the Japanese superhero franchise of the same name created by the artist ONE. The anime set in a world filled with action and is centred around Saitama an incredibly powerful superhero who can lay flat opponents, aliens, and monsters with just one punch. The shonen anime is a hilarious and loving parody with fun action sequences, loveable characters, and biting moments of comedy. While portraying the grey moral of being a hero, this anime often flips the shonen tropes on their heads. The hero is despised and claimed worthless by others even though he is the most powerful superhero in the world who can kill anyone with a blow.
