SandBoarding – Everything You Didn’t Know About This Sport

Sandboarding is different from snowboarding in some ways. To start with sand boarding does not involve high levels of speed and hence is less risky than snowboarding. You need to go up the Huge Sand Dunes and slide down them. There are no ski-lifts to take you to the dunes, you can always enjoy a ride up the dunes on an all-terrain vehicle or dune buggies.

Another advantage is that sandboards are cheaper than snowboards and you don’t require any special clothing to go sandboarding. All you need is a sandboard, some wax, and goggles to keep your eyes safe from sand particles. Sandboards are made of laminar and are much harder and sturdier than snowboards. You have to wax the base to make it easier for the run so that it is easier to slide down the grainy sand.

The best part about sandboarding is that you can pursue throughout the year and you don’t have to wait for the winters to jump on a sandboard, or wait for the winter resorts to open and offer ski/snowboarding packages. What’s more; you can enjoy the sport amongst some sandy beach dunes as well and don’t have to always go to a desert.

There are a number of places where you can enjoy sand boarding. Australia, Dubai, Namibia, Peru, and Egypt are some places that offer sandboarding opportunities. You can find huge sand dunes across 2 square kilometres in Kangaroo Islands, which is a heritage sight in Australia. Egypt’s The Great Sand Sea is another place where you can slide through dunes rising unto the height of 140 meters.

P.S: If you’ve tried Sandboarding then you should definitely try Sand-skiing too.
