Thulasi Nair is a former Indian actress who appeared in 2 films in the Tamil language. After debuting in Mani Ratnam's Film Kadal in 2013, she has since worked on Ravi K. Chandran's first film, Yaan (2014).

Career

Aged 14, Thulasi was first considered for a role in Kadal by director Mani Ratnam after being recommended by actress Suhasini to audition for the lead role in November 2011. She was initially rejected with the director Noting that she was "too young for the role" the team chose to sign it after Samantha's release of the project. She would appear alongside her junior colleague Gautham Karthik in the lead roles, coincidentally 32 years after her mother and Gautham's father also started together in Alaigal Oivathillai of Bharathiraja (1981). Thulasi lost twelve kilos for the film and she followed a series of pre-production workshops led by actress Kalairani before the first program. Playing the role of Beatrice, a young nurse with a childish personality, Thulasi worked with a cast including Arvind Swamy and Arjun and shot scenes across the Tamil Nadu coastline. His appearance was kept out of the media before his release, with a clause in his contract preventing him from participating in the media interaction. The film opened in February 2013 to mixed reviews and the film became a commercial failure at the box office. Thulasi's performance has received positive reviews from critics, with Rediff.com noting that "when the script requires it to come to life in the end, it does it well." Likewise, another reviewer added: "Thulasi is natural and has lent an air of grace to her role," while Sify.com wrote "although she has a very small screen, she did her best to to do a fair job to the young, chirpy girl. "Her performance could be nominated for Best Female Actress at the Vijay Awards and the South Indian International Movie Awards in 2014.
Before the release of Kadal, the director of photography Ravi K. Chandran signed with Thulasi to play a leading role in his first achievement, Yaan (2014). In Yaan, Thulasi played Srila, the daughter of a retired defense officer who lives in Chennai. Featuring alongside Jiiva, the film was widely shot in Morocco and released in October 2014 to negative reviews and became a surprise box office failure. She has received mostly negative reviews for her interpretation with Behindwoods.com noting "she gets a better outing this time and has a certain range of expressions in her bag". In comparison, Rediff.com wrote that it is "barely recognizable", and that there is almost no chemistry between the pair of head ", while describing the film as a" boring ".
