There are few things as pleasurable as break up songs sung by Arijit Singh. We all know the magic that Channa Mereya created when we first listened to it, and who can forget the painful sadness that Agar Tum Saath Ho evoked during the crucial scenes of Tamasha. Well, the singer is back with yet another break up song; this time for the upcoming Ajay Devgn starrer De De Pyaar De. The song is called Dil Royi Jaye, and has been composed by Rochak Kohli.

Dil Royi Jaye essentially talks about the pain of separation. Its lyrics have been beautifully written by Kumaar to convey this message. Its opening lines go, “Mere hisse mein tu nahin hai .Yeh bhi na jaanu kyun nahin hai. Itna hi bas mujhko pata hai, main tera galat, tu mera sahi hai.”

The composition is sombre, and despite its gloomy lyrics, maintains a pleasant atmosphere. It’s this duality that ends up being its main appeal, and Rochak Kohli deserves all the credit for the same. As for Arijit Sing’s vocals, they are on point as usual. His voice just refuses to get old, and somehow keeps surprising us time and again.

The song has been pictured on Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh. Their characters have just gone through a break up, and both are dealing with it in their own ways. While Rakul is finding it difficult to adjust at her workplace, Ajay Devgn has to deal with loneliness in his own house. Tabu also makes an appearance in the song, playing his ex-wife who seems to be trying to help him out in his sad times.

De De Pyaar De’s story revolves around a 50-year-old divorcee, played by Ajay Devgn, falling in love with a 26-year-old woman, played by Rakul Preet Singh. The couple find themselves in the midst of many problems after Ajay introduces Rakul to his family, which includes his parents and his two kids who are almost the same age as that of his girlfriend. His ex-wife, played by Tabu, is also close to their family, which brings her into the picture as well.

De De Pyaar De is slated to release across theatres across India tomorrow, May 17.
