As we move closer to the release date of Gully Boy, the promotions for this film have started heating up. The second Episode of the Voice of the Streets series has been launched by Excel Entertainment, and it features Nitin Sharma aka Spitfire, a rapper hailing for Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh. The episode acts as a tiny documentary of sorts, in which he describes his life and what led him to become what he is today.

The first episode from the Voice of the Streets series Featured Naezy aka Naved Sheikh. He is one of the two people Gully Boy’s story is based on. Like the new episode, that one too ended with the line, Apna Time Ayega, which is a phrase being used to promote the film. Despite all this, it was still quite a surprise to see that the soundtrack of the film featured no contribution from Naezy.

As opposed to that, Spitfire’s contribution has been a huge highlight. He has written and composed the song Asli Hip Hop, which has been sung by Ranveer Singh. This was the first song from the film that we heard since it was featured in the trailer announcement video released by Excel Entertainment.

Chhatarpur-based Spitfire explains in his Voice of the Streets episode that he picked up the pen when he was in eleventh grade. He’s aged just 20, and has already earned quite a name for himself in the hip hop scene of the country.

Gully Boy went into production in January last year, and is now finally ready to be released. It tells the story of an aspiring rapper from the streets of Bombay, and his journey from realising his love for rap to chasing his dream.

It stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, while others like Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz and Amruta Subhash will also be sharing screen space with them. The film has been written by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, and Zoya herself has directed and co-produced it.
