Ayushmann Khurrana’s Struggle To Stardom Story

Actor Ayushmann Khurrana has had a splendid year so far with what four back to back hits at the box office. From his latest release, Badhaai Ho to his other releases in the year including Bareily Ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Savdhaan, and Andhadhun, the actor has shown immense talent and has become the much-talked-about middle-class hero.

His relatable characters and natural persona are drawing the audiences to theaters. With his back-to-back releases, Ayushmann has literally been competing with himself at the box office.

Ayushmann’s First Stint With Success Was With Television:

A journalism postgraduate, Ayushmann made his first ever appearance on television, back in 2002 on Channel V’s Pop Stars. After which he was a part of the popular reality show Roadies 2 which aired on MTV. After putting up a tough fight for his contestants, Khurrana went on to win the reality show’s second season. Due to the show’s popularity, his big win put him on the map and his journey towards stardom had already begun.

Post his reality show stint, the actor tried his hands at radio jockeying and hosted a show on Big FM, Delhi. Gifted with an amazing voice and even better anchoring skill, Ayushmann soon became a top choice as a host for reality shows such as India’s Got Talent, Music Ka Maha Muqabala and even Extra Innings T20.

Just when he was becoming a household name as an anchor, Ayushmann’s personal life too was going through a beautiful phase. The actor tied the knot with his childhood sweetheart, Tahira Kashyap in 2011.

With lady luck on his side, Khurrana bagged his first Bollywood film opposite then model Yami Gautam. Directed by the genius Shoojit Sircar, Vicky Donor released in 2012 and became one of the most successful films of that year. Ayushmann was hailed for playing an unconventional character of a sperm donor and his confident Delhi boy act won him a lot of praises. He also managed to become a music sensation with the romantic track ‘Pani Da Rang’.

The journey post the big hit is not easy and Ayushmann had to constantly prove himself before becoming tagged as the one-hit wonder. The actor particularly went through a bad phase with a string of flops such as Nautanki Saala and Hawaaizaada. As unforgiving as the audience is, it almost seemed like the end of Ayushmann’s career was near.

Until the actor surprised us with a brilliantly played middle-class character in YRFs Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Backed by a strong supporting cast and a smashing debut by Bhumi Pednekar, this movie was Ayushmann’s second innings in Bollywood.

Ever since then, AK has looked back. Like any other actor, he has been through his share of ups and downs but has now managed to carve a place for himself among the new-age heroes.
