Asha Bhosle, the versatile queen of melody has many songs to her name which we still cherish or enjoy listening to. There are many music directors now who still ponder over the beautiful duo of Asha Bhosle and RD Burman, and the magical songs that they have created together. Not just with RD Burman, Asha Bhosle has created a lot of memorable songs with other music directors and famous singers of her times too. With Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd. Rafi and Kishore Kumar dominating the industry, Asha Bhosle’s beautiful voice soon helped her be recognized for her adaptable range and voice.
The melody queen turned 85 today, and there are many songs by Asha Bhosle, which have been ‘remade’ by other singers. Though we shouldn’t compare or judge those songs, we can definitely mention them so that our audience knows that some of their favourite tracks have actually been Asha’s originals:
‘Ye Mera Dil’ From SRK’s Don (2006)
When the remake of the old movie ‘Don’ had the same track, we couldn’t be happier. Although, remakes cannot actually do justice to the old ones ever, we were blessed to have this remake, which is one of the best remakes of the original song, ‘Ye Mera Dil’ from Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Don’ which was performed by the legendary ‘Helen’, whereas Kareena performed in the remade version.
‘Dum Maaro Dum’ From Dum Maaro Dum (2011)
This one song is the example of how music changes with time and how music is portrayed from one generation to the other. The remake stars with a rap, and then the song starts with some hip-hop melodies and contemporary lyrics, but the original song is also perfectly mixed with the other portions. The playback singer of the remade version was Anushka Manchanda.
‘Kajra Mohabbat Wala’ Featuring Diya Mirza
This song had been recreated by Dia Mirza and Sonu Nigam. Sonu Nigam tried his best to keep it as close as possible to the original along with making it sound like a remade version of the same.
‘Tu Tu Hain Wahi’ From Album – Pehli Mulaqat
When the remade version of this song came out, people concentrated more on the music video because it surely set some hearts on fire! Vaishali Samant’s voice tried to do justice to this, and we cannot take away that from her. However, Asha’s original, starring Rishi Kapoor and Poonam Dhillon gets the upper hand here.
Yes, the legend quite rightly created a huge impact with all her songs pretty well. That is the reason why music directors still think of remaking her songs more than anybody else, because they are popular in every nook and corner of the world. We wish the legend, a very Happy Birthday!
