This year has been quite a busy one for Guri, who has already released five singles of his own. The latest one among them is Golden Rang which has come via the Geet MP3 YouTube channel. The song arrived on the streaming platform two days ago, and has already managed to grab more than 3 million views. This speaks a lot about the kind of fandom that the singer enjoys.

Golden Rang, however, is not at all an impressive song. It’s got your typical heavily auto-tuned singing, a wannabe Nucleya template and amazingly boring lyrics. And did we mention that the music video is also very shoddy? Yes it is. Shot in the overexplored locales of Goa, it’s filled with generic content that you’ve definitely seen in plenty of other videos.

While Guri has only provided his vocals for this track, the music has been composed by KV Dhillon. Penny has been credited with writing the lyrics for the song. Their efforts seem to have been kept at a minimum, as nothing about this track echoes any quality. Take its chorus line for instance. “Saanu tere naal ho gaya pyar. Golden rang waliye. Tere pichhe main ghumaunda taiyon car. Golden rang waliye.” What sense does that make?

Anyway, the news is that the song will still be a big hit, which is the story of every other song from singers like Guri, Guru Randhawa and others. We still haven’t been able to figure out the reason why their fans are so happy and passionate about the mediocrity that they distribute on a regular basis.

Guri’s earlier videos are still enjoying huge popularity on YouTube. Mill Lo Na has climbed to 53 million views in three months, while last year’s Yaar Beli boasts of a whopping 116 million hits. Another big hit of Guri is Dooriyan which has earned more than 120 million views in 11 months. Chootay Maatay was his last video before Golden Rang, and this one too is an uninteresting and unimpressive track that makes you wonder what it is that people like in it.
