It’s a Wednesday morning, Absolutely in the middle of the week, and obviously you have to be at work because all the important people in the world have made sure this is the day you have to be present for all the boring meetings and this is the day when you absolutely can do every single thing in the world but not take a break from Office.

It just happens to be another small fact that it is also Valentine’s Day today.

Yes, today, Wednesday, bang in the middle of a work week.

There’s no getting out of it and you have to spend a considerable amount of time with those colleagues and seniors and jerks you couldn’t care about less. So how do you actually behave as you’re itching to be with your darling?

Remember the following to ensure you’re allowed back tomorrow and for the rest of your office term here.

If you absolutely must call your love, do so without leaning on your colleagues’ chair. There is bound to be some space in the office that allows private conversations to be private – tea/coffee area, smoking area, balcony, staircase. Find it. And remember, the washroom does not feature in this list at all.

I know it is a huge sacrifice, but do not set up your ringtone as some tacky mushy song that makes you blush and smile as the entire office and their grannies cringe. Please do not.

Now that you have established ways to make sure you will talk to your darling, even if you are at work, gag yourself from saying out those words in audible distance. Words such as shona, cuchu, puchu, ghonchu – yes, while they haven’t been banned yet, ensure you ban yourself from saying those while you are surrounded by others at work. If you have full faith in yourself that you won’t be able to stop saying these, make a placard with the message ‘Don’t say these words (fill in the words here)” and entrust a friend to hold it in front of you each time you are on the phone.
