Bollywood Stars Who Don’t Use Their Real Names

The concept of a stage name isn’t ancient. We have all grown up with names like Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Eminem etc. and we cannot imagine our favorite Star to be the same without these names. Would you ever associate the persona of the best rapper with the name Marshall Bruce Mathers III (Eminem)? Would you like it if you got to know Amitabh Bachchan’s real name was something else? They say “what’s in a name”. Well, we say in name there’s fame!

Yes, Big B’s real name was Inquilab Srivastava. Surprised? Well, wait for more.

No, it’s not Chachi 420 although we wish it was. It’s Alwarpettai Aandavar. Such a major tongue twister, isn’t it?

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif
We prefer the Indian version of her name don’t we?

This beauty changed it from Kate Turqouis. Not sure about the name, but we definitely like the color! Don’t you?

Hrithik Roshan

Bollywood heartthrob changed his name from Hrithik Rakesh Nagath. Well, Roshan does sound grander. But he will always be the “laddu” fromKabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham for us!

Ajay Devgan

Ajay Devgan
Ajay or Vishal, it does not make much of a difference, does it?

His original name was Vishal Devgan. How do we feel about that? Life is a lie!

Shilpa Shetty

Whether its Shilpa or Ashwini we love her either ways

This super hot actress changed it from Ashwini Shetty. We don’t care as long as we get to “shut up and bounce” with her.

Salman Khan

Whatever he does with the name he will continue to attract fans

It seems he is great at taking things off. Be it shirts or names. He has shortened it from Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan.

Johnny Lever

He’ll make us laugh whatever his name may be

We love Johnny Lever because he makes us laugh. Comedies in Bollywood are such a farce without Johnny Lever in them. But did we know his real name in fact, is Janardhan Rao?

Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan
Saif’s name is a slightly modified version of the original

This Nawab had also succumbed to this trend and changed it from Sajid Ali Khan. We like Saifu by the way!

Akshay Kumar

Apparently the name Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia didn’t sound Macho enough for a guy who’d star in a series of movies titled “Khiladi”.

These aren’t all. In fact these are to name just a few. Jackie Shroff, Dev Anand, Rekha, Tabu, Guru Dutt, Preity Zinta, Nana Patekar, Nargis, Jitendra, Shammi Kapoor, John Abraham have all changed their names. From shortened names, to famous nicknames or complete dismissal of their original names, celebs have have it time and again and are likely to continue doing it. Why? Well, some believe it is done so that the stars are in their favor. But there may be a lot of other reasons. For instance, Katy Perry changed her name from Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson so that people wouldn’t confuse it with the actress Kate Hudson. Whatever the reason may be, we love our celebs for what they are. And no name is gonna change that!
