Akshay Kumar might have his hands full with his next Film, PadMan ready to hit the theaters on 9 February and his other two under productions films, Reema Kagti’s Gold, Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0 and the recently announced Kesari, but looks like he’s not going to stop soon! There are talks that Akshay will soon start working on a Tamil remake of a film titled Kanchana 2!

The film which is a horror comedy that released in 2015 was a huge hit in the South. This will be the second time that Akshay will be seen in a horror comedy after Bhool Bhulaiyaa. During his interviews with HFT, Akshay had dropped some hints about wanting to do a film like Bhool Bhulaiyaa and looks like his wish is coming true with the Kanchana 2 remake!

So what was Kanchana 2 all about? A horror comedy, In Kanchana 2 employees of a TV channel set out to capture ghosts as a marketing tactic, they create fake ghosts in a spooky, dark house and are eventually haunted by real spirits!

Kanchana 2 was written, produced and directed by Raghava Lawrence, who also played a double role in the film. It is the third installment in the Muni series after Muni 2: Kanchana and second installment in Kanchana series. The film, starred Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen and Kovai Sarala in lead roles. The film was also released in Telugu, titled Ganga and in Kannada as Kalpana 2.

When Tapsee was approached for the film, she was not sure about the role as she didn’t want to play such an intense character during that stage of her career. However, she finally went on to do the film and the film was a huge success.

While Akshay will be playing the male lead, the female lead is yet to be finalised. Tapsee and Akshay have both worked on two films earlier; Baby and Naam Shabana, so will Tapsee be sharing screen space with Akshay in the remake of Kanchana 2 too?

While the speculations are still to be put to rest, it will be a good change to see Akshay do more than socially relevant films that he has been doing more of these days!
