Here is her life-changing story for you all:

Can you please tell us about your early life?

My native is Paradeep, Odisha where I did my schooling till 12th. I had keen interest in education and I did pass out as a College topper. I moved to Cuttack, Odisha for my graduation in Ravenshaw University. I also received a Gold medal from Dr.APJ ABDUL KAMAL ji for my academics. Later I prepared for my IAS though I never attempted a test. Then I joined as a part-time Faculty at NIIT, then worked as a events & wedding planner, and finally got into SAI INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL as a Teacher.

How did you come up with the thought of becoming a makeup artist?

I was good at academics. Never once I had thought that one day I could have this life . My parents wanted to see me as a government official, though I always wanted to get into business as I belong to a business family. So I ended up with a beauty franchise in the year 2013. And their it all started.

What problems did you face so far in your journey?

I won’t call them as problems, cause that would disrespect what I did learn from those situations. But of course the major situations from where I did learn were criticisms. A place where we had a very little knowledge about the term “Makeup Artist” back then, it was challenging to express my art. Makeup is a very conceptual term. It is very different from person to person.

What are all the awards that you have been awarded for your hard work?

Some of the awards that i have won for my work are ODISHA BUSINESS AWARD “BEST MAKEUP ARTIST ODISHA” , 2017; EMERGING TALENT IN BRIDAL BEAUTY DESIGNING, Delhi in 2018; PERFECTION IN BRIDAL ARTISTRY, Goa in 2019 and NATIONAL LEADERSHIP AWARD “BEST MAKEUP ARTIST ODISHA” , Kolkata in the year 2019.

How makeup has influenced your life? How do you think makeup affects a woman’s life?

Makeup has influenced my very existence. It has made me a better person than ever before. The amount of blessings I have got all these years is why I did survive every situation, and I stand way stronger than ever before. Being your true self is amazing but the amount of confidence a woman carries when she puts the kajal & lip Color on is immense. I always say & believe “ONE CAN NEVER IGNORE A WOMAN, WHO LOVES HERSELF ”

Do you think wearing makeup makes you feel confident and strong?

Not only do i preach this but also believe in this. I feel confident as long as i am true to myself, rest of course Makeup is like a cherry on the top.

You have made this journey so far. So, what is that one piece of advice you would like to give to the upcoming makeup artists?

There is no shortcut to success. Be honest, be open to learning new. Live, love your work and success will come running after you.

Where do you find yourself in the next 5 years?

I always love to live in the present, with the believe that ” I AM MEANT FOR SOMETHING REALLY BIG & AMAZING BE IT ANYTHING, ANYWHERE ”

According to you how women should deal with the consequences of applying makeup repeatedly?

Though I am a Makeup Artist, I never stopped stressing over the fact that a Good skin is the key to everything. Skincare is very important as compared to makeup. Always take good care of your skin before and after applying makeup.

Can you tell us about one of your proudest moments?

Honestly there are so many of them. I feel truly blessed. But one thing that is so close to my heart is , receiving messages from people I never met , saying I have inspired them to love themselves . I consider this as my proudest moments of all.

How has your fitness journey been so far? Why do you think being fit is important?

If I have to mention this one thing that changed my life & made me love myself like never before, is my FITNESS journey. Initially it was all about losing weight from 103 kgs. Gradually I saw a huge difference in my confidence, my attitude towards life & my passion. Being fit gives me extra energy and life to enjoy what I created. After all who wants to work hard to pay hospital bills.

So of my recent favorites are Estee Lauder night repair serum, Clinique moisture surge moisturizer, KIKO Milano Hydrashot, Laneige sleeping mask and Tony Moly Timeless range.

Recently, you have started your own salon “Makeover by Romma. Tell us something about it and how you came up with the idea?

I am into beauty business since 2014, i was running a different franchise then. Makeover By Romma came in the year 2017 , which is a Unisex Salon and Spa in CDA 9 CUTTACK. With experience, the more I learnt, the more I wanted to customize as per the need of my guests , be it the price or the products, which was impossible to do working under someone. I wanted to offer my guests services and products that I believe in, not what the company had a contract with. Hence I gave up the franchise and started my own Beauty Brand named ” Makeover by Romma ”
